Callie (calliekl) | 646 comments Hey y'all!
I received the Boston Book Festival Literary Trivia email today, and I think we need to set up a team!

When: June 18, 6-8PM
Where: Tommy Doyle's, Kendall Square
$: Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door, but the event sold out ahead of time last year.

They'd like teams of four. I'm totally in, who's with me?

Noooooooo!
I am hosting a bookseller/author cocktail party that night.

like!

Marly | 152 comments You guys know I'd be awful, I'm a slow thinker, I need a few minutes to process, or I'd be IN. Suzanne and Linda - yes, you need to move to Boston.

message 7: by Callie (new)

Callie (calliekl) | 646 comments Marly- that's totally ok! We have a song or two for every question to answer- being fast is not necessary. And in terms of doing well, going in last year with like, no expectations, we did a healthy upper middle. It's more just fun (although it would be bomb to win, of course!).

message 8: by Ann (new)

Ann (akingman) | 2097 comments Mod
Pay attention to the songs!!!

Hey, the email I got on this says it's Monday June 17th. That changes things ... I can go.
do we still have a team?

message 11: by Callie (new)

Callie (calliekl) | 646 comments Yikes sorry about that typo!

I am still down, if we can get 2 more people.

message 12: by Ann (new)

Ann (akingman) | 2097 comments Mod
Oh, Marly.....

message 13: by Marly (new)

Marly | 152 comments Haha. I feel like I just heard my name being called.
I'm in.

message 14: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (tracemick) | 217 comments I can go! I'm no good at trivia but I miss all of my Booktopia friends!

message 15: by Callie (new)

Callie (calliekl) | 646 comments Yay we have a team! Here is the link to buy tickets and register:

message 16: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (tracemick) | 217 comments Do we need to have a team name to sign up?

message 17: by Callie (new)

Callie (calliekl) | 646 comments Hmm I guess we do. There was a prize last year for best team name, and the winner was 50 Shades of Grey Goose. Anyone have thoughts?

message 18: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (tracemick) | 217 comments The Perks of Being a Booklover
Casual Supremacy
Mental Vacancy
Jonathan and the Franzens
Robert B. Parker's Wonder Girls
Fahrenheit 45 What?
The Thirsty Games

These are what my boyfriend and I came up with...lol.

message 19: by Callie (new)

Callie (calliekl) | 646 comments Lol I had been rolling The Thirsty Games around in my head. Great Minds!

message 20: by Ann (new)

Ann (akingman) | 2097 comments Mod
Or we could co-opt The Hos of Prose, as Dawn suggested...

message 21: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (tracemick) | 217 comments Either one works for me!

message 22: by Ann (new)

Ann (akingman) | 2097 comments Mod
We need our team name to buy tickets.
I'm headed for Booktopia early tomorrow morning and this is kind of the last thing on my endless to do list.
Once you guys decide the name, will someone buy me a ticket? (You can buy up to 4). I'll pay you back the $12, I swear :)

message 23: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth A (kisiwa) | 193 comments Not sure if I'll be in town, but if I am will be there to cheer the local team.

message 24: by Callie (new)

Callie (calliekl) | 646 comments I would be happy to steal "Hos of Prose", though is Hos the correct pluralization? I guess I know that hose and hoes are different things lol, hos just looks funny.

Ann, I will grab your ticket when I buy mine.

message 25: by Ann (new)

Ann (akingman) | 2097 comments Mod
thank you!

message 26: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (tracemick) | 217 comments I guess I thought it would be "Hoes of Prose" but then that makes me think of gardening equipment.

Let's go with "Hos of Prose". Callie, you have Ann's ticket. Do you need to get a ticket just to watch?

Can't wait! Very excited!

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

How about The Interestings?

message 28: by Marly (new)

Marly | 152 comments I don't know if I can be a part of this team (hahaha I wouldn't miss it with a name like that). I love it.
Elizabeth if you are in town you must take my place on the team and I will cheer you all on.
Eric, I think we should have you in a tiny microphone in our ears, just in case.

I didn't google it, Dawn, but when I looked at the list of the 25 ways to tell if your addicted to books, one of them had something similar (with a drawing of Bill Shakespeare) spelled it hoes.

So, all I'm trying to say is I was trying to be helpful and help keep you all on the spelling up and up.

I wish I could click "like" on this comment.

Ann (akingman) | 2097 comments Mod
Hos is proper.
Hoes would be garden tools.
Hose of Prose would be kind of cool, but that would be stockings with words written on them.
Ho's would be a crime against grammar.

Therefore, it must be Hos, as much as it reads like "Hoss."

By the way, there's a really nice bar with excellent cocktails next door to the hotel at Booktopia WA. I visited it today, if you couldn't tell.

ooh Ann, yummy, and with the time change cocktail hour really begins at 2:00 pm. (of course, it's always dark under the porch!)

message 35: by Callie (new)

Callie (calliekl) | 646 comments Wow, that's great! Did everyone get to sign up?

message 36: by Marly (new)

Marly | 152 comments No. I kept meaning to. What should I do? Do you have enough for a team? Or am I ok because I'm on the team?

message 37: by Callie (new)

Callie (calliekl) | 646 comments Oh no! Unfortunately, if you didn't get a ticket already then you won't be able to participate. If you email norah (at) bostonbookfest (dot) org she might be able to help.

message 38: by Marly (new)

Marly | 152 comments Do you have enough people for a team already? I'm fine with just cheering you on.

message 39: by Callie (new)

Callie (calliekl) | 646 comments Very excited for tonight ladies!

message 40: by Marly (new)

Marly | 152 comments Callie, just to be sure, you do not need me for a team, correct? Because I was not able to get a ticket.

message 41: by Callie (new)

Callie (calliekl) | 646 comments I think we have 3 for the team, so we should be all set. We will miss you Marly!

message 42: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (tracemick) | 217 comments Yes, we will miss you!

I'm excited too. I do hope the game will be on in the background somewhere. :)

I am making sure to keep my phone as charged as possible today so that I will be able to surreptitiously keep an eye on what's going on.
