Yeah, the food is gourmet. If I were you I'd take my time deciding as well. You'll have to wait here at the counter if you ordered something special... which most do.

It was a good thing Marcus had cone around at an unusual time; otherwise there would have been a line behind him. seriously, the guy was taking forever to make what should have been a simple choice. Marcus scuffed his sandals against the ground, eyes scanning what was available. There were plenty of things that sounded good...untill you realized who was ordering. Marcus was a vegan. That's right; none of that save the world stuff but then drinking milk when no one was looking bullshit. He was a true believer in chickens and cows living lives that humans didn't interfere with. Yeah, you'd figure out what kind of person he was pretty fast if you didn't already know. Maybe he could get a sandwich with some soup...?

In the end, Marcus had a glass of apple juice, and was waiting for some pineapple pizza to heat up. At least he hadn't started protesting against the jello. Honestly, didn't anyone care what jello came from? Marcus shuddered, figuring he'd do some yoga later in the day to keep from freaking out over such things. Yeah, that was Marcus for you, a environmentalist caring person who managed to not actually know much about the environment. But what could one expect from a rich kid like him?

Reaching around some kid in mandals, Roland grabbed some jello and placed it on the pile that was forming on his plate. It's not like he was going to eat all of it, when it came down to it, Roland would probably have one or two bites of everything. He couldn't help it though, when he was at home, his parents had him on such a strict diet, there was no way he wasn't going to binge for the first couple of days here at Kale. It was a relief to be honest... to eat what he wanted for once.

Not to mention where he sat at lunch, usually he rocked it with a group of girls or something from his team. And the last thing any girl would do would overflow their plate with all of the things they really wanted... wouldn't want to look fat or anything? Yeah, the thing was, when Roland sat down--they practically scavenged what ever was on his plate. He was used to it... hence antoher reason he got so much food. "'scuusseeee me." he drawled, grabbing so pudding as well from the dining area.

((I could have sworn I responded))

Marcus made a slight face seeing someone who was probably a senior put sooo much on his plate. Things like the jello, which yeah, was a petty thing to judge someone on...but this was KII. People had to get used to the idea that anything and everything was going to cause some issue somewhere with someone. Marcus tilted his head a bit to the side, amusement as hing across his face. No wonder the kid was going to eat so much; he was an athlete. That much was fairly obvious just by looking at him. Marcus couldn't quite remember what team that would make the other kid though. Hmmm, guess that made them buddies for the moment? Marcus tended to be an optimist, but that might not work in this situation. Call him a codger, but at least he had guts.

"Sorry," Marcus proceeded to prattle after Roland's entirely informal introduction that was probably as close as it was going to get to a grandiose welcome. "I didn't mean to get in your way." Some people might have thought he was being sarcastic, but it wasn't quite the right tone of voice for that. Marcus shrugged his shoulders, and kicked his feet against the floor some more. Yeah; he was pretty clueless who Roland was and that he should probably try to suck up to the senior.

Alton strolled into the cafeteria, knowing that if Roland was going to be anywhere the first week of school, it’d be trying to eat something with a ton of fat and sugar in it. Binging the first week, and then going back to eating a leaf of lettuce for breakfast and an apple for lunch, or some other crazy freak diet that would get him ripped. But to each his own, whatever they needed to acomplish goals. Alton had given up questioning the moment he saw competetors prep routines. Wasn’t worth their time anyway, they still lost. That thought alone pulled the corner of Alton’s mouth up in a half smirk as he moved smoothly through the crowd in the cafeteria, the sophomores moving out of the way, as they had learned, the freshmen following in suit. They’ve smartened. Maybe there’s hope yet. He thought smugly as he observed an obvious freshman blubber out an answer to Roland. Even though he didn’t hear the response, the kid was a lost cause.

“I’m sure you didn’t.” Alton said to the kid’s head, looking down at him, his eyes and icy tone daring him to respond. Glancing down at the kid’s wrist, he noticed the green color on his bracelet. A Green Dynimas. Lovely. “Next time try to remember who your leaders are, will you?” Alton said, raising an eyebrow. It wasn’t a question, it was a dismissal. And not even giving the kid a second to react, he turned to Roland. “So, are you planning to eat that, or admire it without vultures lurking?” He asked, his tone turning from cold to teasing in the blink of an eye.

"No problem." he remarked, still loading his plate. Roland hadn't intended to be mean to the kid, or interact with him really, he just figured he would go away or something when his food was ready. He didn't. Which of course, was customary when someone wanted something--they stuck around while they thought of what they wanted to say. Roland glanced at the kid, raising a brow expectantly. But... he was surprised. Marcus didn't seem to want anything, he didn't seem confused what so ever. He just looked... happy? Roland couldn't be sure. He'd never met anyone that was so naturally happy they couldn't help but shit sunshine and puke rainbows.

Of course, the smile was sure to drop when Alton stopped by. He had that effect on people... it was lovely. Roland grinned, eating a piece of the cubed jello as he watched the show. Harsh? Maybe. But that was Alton, no one could pull off asshole better than his best friend. "Leaders?" he scoffed, throwing another piece of jello in his mouth. "Your Mr. President, I'm just the henchmen. And uhh, I plan to eat every last piece of it." he added.

Roland nearly grimaced, but he held the expression back. Food was kind of touchy for him, especially when his parents were in the room. But for now? It was still the first week of school, he could eat anything he wanted and not feel guilty about it. The second week was going to be his problem.

“And a very fine henchman at that.” Alton said, letting an actual grin break out over his face. Not like rank mattered between the two of them, the Dynimas just feared him more than they did Roland. Which was no one’s fault but their own. They put him as assistant, and he’d be able to do more sidework, while Alton dealt with the idiots who seemed to think the president and student council could solve all of their petty social problems. You looked out for the team, but sometimes...Alton just wanted to tell people where to shove it. And that had been last year, when he was VP.

“So I’ve heard the team voted a freshman onto Council this year?” He asked, lowering his voice as Roland continued to move down the line. He let the rest of he food comment just slip by, they had more important matters to discus. “I”m gone for one week for a competition in London, and we’re already doomed. A frosh, and a newbie on council.” Two idiots, who would barely be able to do grunt work, which meant more work for him and Roland. Kylie and Emily were decent, and could get things done, and the four of them had done decently last year, but if they had two newbies to train, it wasn’t going to go as well. “One week.” He muttered to himself. What else had he missed?

Roland smirked. So he was a fine henchmen? He wasn't aware Alton swung that way. Though in the beginning, the fact that they even had something in common was a shocker. It had come to a great surprise they were friends... but believe it or not, behind closed doors, the two had done a lot to help each other. They snapped each other out of it when an obsession became life threatening. Though Roland would hate to see what happened when they were both in a mood--they'd probably die together. All romantic and such, ha.

"I'm sure it will be fine. I voted for him to join, sorry, but I thought it might pose as interesting later on. If he was gutsy enough to join, I'm sure he has something up his sleeve. And I know the other kid--Stiles." he grinned, a devilish glint becoming his eyes. "He's perfect. Stiles is going to mess with Lydia's head, and we need all the help we can get right now--the Black Gavel are our biggest threat this year."

“Or incredibly stupid.” Alton muttered, watching Marcus scuttle off to wherever the heck a freshman decided they were needed, if that even exsisted, which it didn’t. Gosh they were stupid sometimes. Himself, he’s stuck to the practice room his first year, knowing he’d climb the social ladder fast enough. Try-hards and suck-ups where just annoying as hell. Luckily once he and Roland had gotten over their hatred of eachother, they both shot to the top sophomore year. As for Stiles, a senior, and his first year...Alton had seen him around, and he certianly looked like a coward. But wait...Lydia’s head?

Alton slowly turned his head to Roland, and raised an eyebrow. The Black Gavels were their worst enemy this year, even worse than the other two teams. All were enemies, with the exception of a couple people, who didn’t even matter because they were so low on the social ladder they couldn’t possibly do any damage. “Lydia...that’ll be interesting.” He commented, nodding his head slowly. If somone was succesfully able to rattle her, that could be useful. “But before they handle anything that actually matters on the Council, they’ll be proving their worth.” He said. Any pranks or plans that the Council hatched had to be carried out expertly, not by newbies who would mess up everything.

Walking through the line, Roland let the information sink in. He had stuck int he shadows or something the night of the dance, so he wasn't there for all the crap that had gone down between Lydia and Stiles... and Vivian? He almost smiled just thinking about the look on her face. And boy did she look good. That was dangerous. She was not what he needed to think about right now--noooo way. "Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on with the two of them. But if he's there, she'll bite."

Roland couldn't be sure that Stiles would be on board though. Then again, he had choose a different team on purpose. It had been his intention to oppose her, so maybe he was finally growing a pair. Then again, any time she was around him, he practically flailed and smacked himself in the face from the excitement. This was going to be a tough one. Roland would have to convince Stiles he couldn't be with Lydia unless he appealed to her... and that meant making her jealous, showing her he was something without her, and maybe threatening her a bit. And all of those things were true--Lydia was that type of girl. She liked a guy that was mean to her, and then she abused the ones that were nice. "Just give him a chance." he said, softening his voice. Roland really did like the kid. "He's awkward and poorly dressed, but he just needs to be shown the ropes. Alton, I'm serious. You won't like him at first, but you will. He grows on you. And hell, once you see the way Lydia looks at him, you'll be kissing the ground he walks on. The kid has power on her and he doesn't even realize it."

Sucking in a deep breath, Alton forced himself to listen to what Roland said about Stiles. Awkward and poorly dressed was an understatement. First impressions were everything around here, and Stiles certianly gave a poor one. But Roland tended to know how to read people better than he did, and Alton had learned to at least listen to Roland’s advice, even if it didn’t always work out later. “If you say so.” He said, his tone doubtful. They did need Lydia to fall, so if Stiles could do it, maybe there was hope for the kid.

Out of the corner of his eye, Alton saw the clock up on the wall, and what time it was. No, it couldn’t be that late already...he glanced down at his watch, and cursed colorfully in Russian. “Enjoy your lunch Roland, I’ll talk to you tonight after the...debreif.” He said, forcing the last word out. He was due to Skype with his parents about his performance that afternoon, and he was going to be late. Most of the blood drained out of his already white face as he turned on his heel and headed out the door towards the music library, the only place where he could get absolute privacy when being ripped to shreds.

Staring after Alton's retreat, Roland hung his head, feeling sorry for him. He wouldn't have to check in with his parents until sports started, Alton had to check in around the clock. They had daily appointments... they were a bit inconvenient. But oh well, that didn't matter to them. Roland still felt for Alton though, maybe that's why he didn't chide him so much when he was being an asshole to people. He kind of had every right to act as he wanted, he received shit from his parents so hard, it was practically his duty to make sure other people on the planet got a small percentage of it in turn. He was like karma's right-hand man.

Roland continued through the lunch line though, by time he reached the end, his tray was an overflowing mountain of deliciousness. Now the question remained, who was going to help him devour it?
