Matthew (phoebus) | 190 comments Alex stood there, leaning on the rail of the foot bridge, a pencil tucked behind her ear and an open notebook in hand. What a investigative journalist, such as herself, was doing standing their watching some puny creek in the middle of the woods? It's not exactly the most likely place to find one's story, unless you happen to run across a dead body, but that of course would be simply ridiculous. Nah, Alex was just out there for a bit of fresh air, decided to explore the grounds a bit. Plus, there wasn't much of a story back there anyways, just a bunch of petty rich kids, and Alex wasn't running some melodramatic gossip column. Who knows? Maybe the knowing the layout of the campus and how to get around will come in handy later. Personally though, Alex couldn't stand people, and was glad to be away from the bunch of them.

✯✯ᔕTᗩᖇᖇᒪIᘜᕼT✯✯ Cole approached the foot bridge slowly, not because he noticed someone else was there, but because his attention was elsewhere. In his hands was a small gray notebook. The cover was worn down, showing that he's had the notebook for years, yet the pages weren't filled with words but flowers. Drawings of flowers he's seen actually. Cole was into the whole pressed flower business, which back in his dorm, stuffed under his bed, was a huge album filled with flowers. Yeah the kid was into that sort of stuff, which he kept a secret. He actually came out there in search of a new flower because he was sure this little island was filled with flowers he would never have found back at home. Snapping his journal shut, he looked up in time to see another person there. A girl. Awesome. Cole averted his eyes to the ground, figuring she wouldn't even acknowledge his presence if he kept his eyes on the ground as he crossed the bridge.

Matthew (phoebus) | 190 comments Alex didn't turn around as she heard the Cole step on the bridge, didn't even look to see who it was as she gazed forward and looked intently onto nothing in particular, but something that wasn't there. "It seems I'm not the only one who fancied a walk." Alex commented, a statement, neither enthusiastic or antagonistic towards her company. There was a pause and she continued to look forward into nothing for a moment, and then Alex suddenly swung around. "The name's Alex.” She said, her eyes quickly looking over Cole, a thin boy with messy blond hair; young looking, probably a freshman or sophomore.

✯✯ᔕTᗩᖇᖇᒪIᘜᕼT✯✯ When the girl spoke, Cole continued walking since it hardly seemed to be a conversation starter. However when she spun around to talk to him, introducing herself and whatnot, Cole stopped in his tracks and turned to face her, as it was the polite thing to do. As she looked him over, he did the same to her --taking in her long blonde hair, pale skin and her blue eyes. Overall the girl was pretty and obviously out of his league. Plus, Cole was sure he wasn't worth her time, so why was she talking to him. It made him think about the other girl from the night before, the one who kept trying to talk to him. Would this one turn out the same? He hoped not.

"Cole," he replied. "Um yeah, it's a nice day out." Clutching the small journal in his hand, he waited for her to dismiss him so he could keep going on his merry way.
