Well there's a new one for me to check out. Thanks J.R.!

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

I will add some of his books to the bookshelf J.R.

message 5: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC Yeah, I've read some OSC. I want to read the Mither Mages trilogy next.

I read a lot of different authors. My favorite nonfiction authors would be along the lines of: Bart Ehrman, Carl Sagan, Richard Dawkins, and Jon Krakauer. For fiction it's just too hard to say: King and Koontz are undoubtedly my most read.

I am currently having a bit of a "love affair" with Scandinavian crime authors. I loved Stieg Larsson and am currently enjoying Jo Nesbo. My guilty pleasure reading is Charlaine Harris, I enjoy the YA authors John Marsden and Maggie Stiefvater. This is like trying to choose a favourite child, because I have to also add Ian Rankin, James Lee Burke and Lee Child!

I totally dig McCammon. I've read quite a bit of the older stuff. I'm currently reading SPEAKS THE NIGHTBIRD and it's fantastic so far.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

Philip, I agree that independent authors are a great way to go. It gives us something to read that puts a slightly different spin on things and gets us out of the same ole same ole.

message 19: by Rick (new)

Rick Shepard I'd have to say some of my favorites are Poe, McCammon, King, Hautala, for horror, but I also love Erik Larson, Studs Terkel, James Thurber, Arthur Conan Doyle...I have to agree with Sharon's comparison to picking a favorite child!

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

It is hard sometimes, but what I tend to do is read a couple of books by an author I like and then switch to someone else.

Those are the ones I can think of right now... Kind of a wide variety of genres but I pick a genre to read according to my mood - so I often have multiple books going at the same time.

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi everyone,

My favorite authors include James Patterson, Dan Brown, Mitch Albom, Mario Puzo, Nicholas Sparks, Kathy Reichs, and Jackie Collins.

Wishing you all the best! :)

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)

Doesn't Jackie Collins have another pen name Antonello? It seems like I remember she does, but I can't seem to recall what it is.

message 48: by Lina (new)

Lina (booksnotlovers) I don't exactly have favorite authors, since I read so much. But right now I'm on a major John Green trip, so I like him quite a lot. And Rowling, but only the Potters, not that new, horrid book.

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

Cindy wrote: "Doesn't Jackie Collins have another pen name Antonello? It seems like I remember she does, but I can't seem to recall what it is."

Hmm, I'm not sure if you're referring to Lucky Santangelo, her main character in the Santangelo series. If not, I will definitely do my research. Thanks for letting me know, Cindy! :)

message 50: by [deleted user] (new)

Not referring to Lucky. Now I'm curious. Don't know what made me think that, but I'm gonna look into it.
