Bismuth twirls her pen around her fingers, she had arrived early to school today and is waiting for class to begin.
Bismuth's pen falls out of her hand in quite a clumsy matter, she quickly looks around to make sure no one saw her blunder. As she's looking around she notices another girl walking into the room, she smiles at her.
Lute blinks and turns to the girl, giving a very small smile before scurrying awkwardly to her seat.
Felix trudges into class a couple minutes late, complete with an inside-out shirt and mismatched socks, and armed with a late pass.
Happy that the girl smiled back Bismuth sits up straight in her seat.
The class has started already so she uses her pen to take notes now, no more twirling.
She notices another student, looking rather ragged, come in late. She smiles at him as well.

Lute sighs, now bored as she copies down some random stuff. Great, another boring day at school with nothing to do except take notes. Is this all that her life had in store? Lute puffed out her cheeks and instead of taking notes, she starts to doodle in her book.
Felix avoids eyes, keeping his head down as he makes his way to his seat. He groans as the professor begins to teach, discussing the students' last essay that had too many errors in punctuation. Instead, he finds himself staring at the back of someone's head and imagining himself elsewhere, preferably asleep in bed.
Bismuth listens to the professor carefully, she has trouble with this subject especially and doesn't want to miss a thing. Her sister always said that she could phone if she had trouble with anything, but she wasn't going to sink to that. She did have her pride.
Bored, Felix begins to think about his brother and parents. Another stereotypical flashback, Felix knows this, but that doesn't stop memories from racing through his head. Hot summers, the smell of gasoline, Hot Wheels cars, and a night trapped in his grandmother's house after the AC broke. Concentrating on schoolwork is out of the question.
Shaking all thoughts of her sis out of her head Bismuth continues to diligently work throughout the period. Today is a good day and she understands most of the material.
The class ends and she packs up.
The class ends and she packs up.
Lute gathers her things before walking out of class and to her locker to get more things for her next class. Lute sighs as she opens her locker, already bored of school. Taking out some supplies and putting some away, she makes her way to her next class.
As the bell rings, Felix slowly arises from his desk, gathering his materials and heading out. He forgot most of his homework (the small amount that he actually did), so there was no reason for him to go to his locker. Instead he makes his way to his second period class, slipping a striped hoodie over his head as he walks.
Bismuth also makes it to her next class, stopping briefly at her locker to collect her notebooks. She silently wonders what her lunch is today.
Bismuth sits in the front to make sure she can see the board clearly. She gazes out the window for a minuet, waiting for the bell to ring. It really is a beautiful day outside.
Felix sighs at the idea of having to sit through another lecture but reluctantly plops down in a desk near the back, asleep within seconds.
Bismuth is suddenly aware that she appears to be the only one paying attention in the class.
She doesn't know whether to be worried or angry.

Lute yawns a bit and stares at her now doodled on notebook. She puffs out her cheeks, now deciding to color them in...Nothing else to do.
Felix awakes to the sound of a sharp whistle and sluggishly turns to see a raven-haired boy in the back smiling broadly at him.
