I can't wait to start this one! I've heard it's completely different to the film and am looking forward to seeing how :)
I bought a copy of this ages ago in a charity shop and added it to my massive, and ever growing, pile of books to read. This will give me the impetus to read it. :)
You really need to read it. Apart from the name of the main character it really doesn't have much in common either with the film featuring Will Smith, or the Omega Man with Charlton Heston and they were both based on the book. I loved the ending but I can't say much about it because of spoilers. Suffice it to say that it managed to change my way of seeing the human race.

I Am Legend author Richard Matheson dies (BBC News Link)A coincidence, or does our reading group have strange, arcane powers?!
R.I.P. Mr Matheson.

What a great loss. He was an inspiration to a lot of people. :(
I'm almost halfway throught the book. My thoughts so far? It's nothing like the film with Will Smith but it's still very compelling. Even though it's set in 1976 it doesn't feel too dated.
I just hope the ending is good too!

Yes Jules, I agree. The end was brilliant, much more profound than the film. I would definitely recommend this book :)

I haven't read much of it yet (I'm at about 30%) but I can see why people say it's so different from the film! I'm loving it so far :)

Hi Charlotte,
I'm so pleased that you're enjoying the read too! I personally thought that the book just kept on improving all the way through and it was nicely unpredictable :)
