This is when the story really takes off. The Company has marched over from Tally to the Barrowlands, back to Tally and past it (the soldier in me would have screamed if I'd has to endure the same thing!) Raven and Marron are hard at making the black castle larger, even if they're not aware they are helping it grow.

I read shadows linger about five months ago and recall cringing every time shed goes back to the castle.

So what do you folks think of what the captain did in chapter 39?

The month wasn't up so I didn't want to say for fear of spoiling... not sure the etiquette with this group ;) That's when the captain comes careening out of Duretile on the Lady's carpet.
Yeah I think the Captain shows great forsight in sending the "old guard" out of Juniper like he did. Then for him to die that way was dishearting! :( I know that it hurt tBC to watch that! I'm sure the Captain will go down in the Annels a hero, BUT I felt like the Company needed him alive more!
I have to say that the ending of Shawdows Linger all in all was well writen and made me look forward to the next installment!
I finished Shadows Linger this evening. I do not for one minute believe Raven is actually dead. I don't care if he was murdered by 100 of his close friends in broad daylight Julius Caesar style. I'd sooner believe he's working for the Dominator, and that's a thin thread to hang an empire on.
