Just a Q, where in the progression do you plan to put the silver-spike? Certain events in that book are contemporaneous with this book IIRC.
I think there is some confusion about what the 4th book in this series is. I thought it was The Silver Spike?
Hey gang! Sorry for the confussion! The compile version I own went to Shadow Games and when I googled the series, Shadow Games is listed as the next book too? I will post Sliver Spikes discussion folders right now! Here's the question, do I own a copy of Silver Spike?? I hope so!! :) Darn it here I thought I was ahead of the game since I'm already 20 chapters into Shadow Games!!
GR tells us that the Silver Spike is the 4th book and this group's upcoming reads starts Shadow Games on August 1. The confusion might be because The Silver Spike seems to be a sidekick from the main plot line which is carried on in Shadow Games.
I actually found that reading the first half of Shadow Games has helped me read Silver Spike! Since I know what Croaker and Company are up to while Raven and Case are chasing after them! I think it's quite interesting to have read it in the order I have!
Count me among the confused. Both Amazon and Audible show Shadow Games as Book #4 and Silver Spike as Book #5, and I'm already about 33% of the way through Shadow Games. Since it appears events don't interact directly, I think I'm just going to read Shadow Games now and Silver Spike after that. I'll catch up on the discussion of Silver Spike once I get to it.
Discussion on the reading order here: http://www.sffworld.com/forums/showth...!. Seems the consensus is to read Silver Spike as book 4, but probably doesn't matter a great deal.
Hey Eric! I did the same thing and read upto chapter 17 in Shadow Games, then started the Silver Spike! I think it made the Silver Spike more interesting since I knew what Croaker was up to! If you continue no worries, but I think you will understand what I mean when you start Silver Spike. Now I'm almost finished with Shadow Games....phew I'm a lil ahead of the game!
Finished this one the other day. This book like the first returns to mix of Croaker & the Company plus a healthy dose of Croaker & Lady like the 3rd book, but now with the power balance turned upside down which is interesting. I feel like this book is a return to the basics that made the series good vs the silver spike which drifted a bit. This time rather than a panoply of critters on the Plain of fear we get a panoply of cities and encounters on the way south until we get to Taglios where things stall. But then you knew things were going too good, there had to be some obstacle eventually...
So then the company is back in a battle with armies fielded by sorcerers and kicking butt despite the odds. As for the final battle... well you knew things were going too well. Something had to go wrong eventually...
I love where this is going, and that it is different from the Silver Spike story---in typical Croaker fashion he isnt even thinking about any of that!
Hey gang!!! Glad to see everyone is still with us! I really enjoyed this installment of tBC series! We get to see everyone from a different perspective in regards to the power structure, Lady taking a back seat was awesome! And I found for me that Silver Spike lead to this being a great book!Anyway, I changed this folder to include the whole book, since I miss the chance last week to post the folder! I've also posted the next folder for anyone who's reading Dreams of Steel, which I've finished already!!! :)

Lady is still with them and she for me at least becomes very human in this book!
