I've read it and really liked it. Read the second in the series right away. I'm prepared with sword and dagger to defend this book! :>)

I just received it from the library. I'll make that my next book. :)
So I finished the book, went in really excited for it especially with the blurb from Jim Butcher on the cover. I like the Dresden books, but thought this one was super slow. I could only read 50 pages at a time, then had to switch to a different book, very unusual for me, normally I can read the book in one sitting.*****Spoilers for whole book
I liked Alex, I even liked that he tried to stay out of things and was happy with his magic shop.
I really liked Luna, felt sorry for her with her curse. I can't imagine what a lonely existence that would be. It seemed like Alex was her only friend and she had to be careful with him.
I really liked the whole clothes shopping and the unusual tailor. I would have been super freaked out like Luna at first.
The tailor was pretty awesome. I immediately wanted to go there and meet her. :>) I didn't find it particularly slow, but I was drawn into Alex's character right away. Glad you ended up finishing it, even if it wasn't your favorite! I've never gotten into the Dresden books, although I've read the first and part of the second!

I did finish the first, but wasn't enamored. I tried the second one twice, but I just don't care much for Dresden. Too many times I feel like things happen just for the sake of plot rather than because of logic. Shrug.
With Fated, I really liked all the characters. Alex is so...regular Joe. Just wants to be left alone. But he's willing to protect others. I think with his magical gift the writing has to be astoundingly strong to still create situations Alex has a hard time getting out of. I thought his gift pretty unusual so that helped my enjoyment of it.
Could someone tell me the author of this book? There's a gazillion books called "Fated" on Goodreads.

Exact same thing happened to me. I kept trying and couldn't finish the first book but love the audiobooks.
This has been probably the slowest reading weeks for me. However, a couple of general notes:1) I love how Alex's abilities are utilized. It's very interesting and different.
2) I dig Alex as a narrator.
Still going...

Excited that the fourth book is coming in August!!

I'm awaiting the next book eagerly too. I tend to hoard the ones I really want to read, but I don't think I'll be able to hoard it for very long. Just a wonderfully intricate series and some great magic and great characters.

I am liking it a lot.
Carolyn F. wrote: "I'm glad Kindle-aholic. I'm having Harry Dresden flashbacks while reading this."I didn't see many similarities between the two (other than they are male protags and get into a lot of trouble) but they are fun!
I'm only in the beginning and the kind of misunderstood man trying to make a living part is what I'm finding similar.
