What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I read this YA book in the early '90s, but I remember that some details, like fashion, felt dated to me. A girl goes to live with some relatives, possibly due to some family issues (divorce?). There is a girl cousin about her age and the main character is taken aback by the cousin wearing a tube top and sneaking out at night. They hang out on the beach with boys. At one point she is at a store and spends all her money on a hat that you can pour beer into and then drink it with attached tubes (sorry, that's awkward). Her aunt is angry with her over this.

That's all I can remember. I could never even find it again in my local library not long after I had read it. Thanks for any help!

This sort of sounds like a book I read when I was really young...T-Backs, T-Shirts, COAT and Hat. The synopsis doesn't sound very similar, but I remember something similar happening with the main character, although I don't remember the beer hat at all.

Wow, I forgot I had asked about this. It was not Dixie Storms or the T backs book mentioned above. I still haven't solved this mystery, but it may be No Place for Me by Barthe DeClements. I need to get my hands on a copy. Possibly mixed up in my head with elements from The Pinballs and The Jellyfish Season.
