Supernatural (the show and the books) discussion

Pilot: Our tale begins with Sam Winchester away at college and in a relationship with a girl named Jessica. We find out pretty quickly he hasn't spoken to his family in a while. Here comes Dean. He wants Sam to help him find their missing father. So the brother's hit the road even though Sam is adamant about returning on Monday because he has an interview set up. Sam doesn't want to be a hunter. He wants to be a lawyer.

Fav. Lines:

Sam: Why weren't you with dad?
Dean: I was working my own gig.
Sam: Dad let you hunt on your own?
Dean: Dude, I'm twenty-six.

Dean: No chick flick moments.
Sam: Okay, jerk.
Dean: Bitch.

Cop: Is there anything about you that isn't fake?
Dean: My boobs.

Sam complains about Dean's choice of music.
Dean: Driver picks the music. Shotgun shuts his cakehole.

Review: I remember the first time I heard about Supernatural. I was shopping at Sam's and saw the first two seasons on sale. Jensen on the cover caught my eye. I've been a fan since he was on Days of Our Lives. I bought both seasons that day, hoping it was good and having no idea this was the start of a beautiful relationship. :)

The Pilot is awesome. The boys have great chemistry from the jump, the lines are well-written and funny when they should be, and it's a heartbreaking story of losing loved ones and fighting through the pain to make a difference in the world.

The one thing I don't like about this episode (Erik Kripke says he feels the same) is the awkward exposition. Sam talks to Dean about how they were raised 'like warriors' and how 'Dad is obsessed with finding the thing that killed mom,' but he doesn't have a clue what it is 'so we kill everything we can find.' Kripke says he would love to see Dean look at Sam and say, "Dude, who are you talking to? I was there." lol

Otherwise it is a great episode. We see our first urban legend, a lady in white. We learn about the boys' strained relationship and Sam's last fight with his father. I can't wait for episode two (don't forget to watch it tomorrow).

Fun fact: Jensen says he and Jared were the only ones called in to try out for the part of the Winchesters. (Whoever picked them for the parts, God bless you).

Fun fact #2: Jared says he wasn't sure the show would be picked up, so he stole a piece of the Impala. Naughty, naughty.

Fun Fact #3: Did anyone else notice they were using shells mixed in with salt for this first episode? For some reason you never hear about shells again.

That would have been great to add. I wanted Dean to bitch-slap Sam after his comments on the bridge. He did apologize after so he's forgiven.

It's sad that Jessica had to die to get him back into the hunting world. I have always wanted some closure between them. I want him to see her again as a ghost or in heaven or whatever just so she can ask him why he didn't tell her the truth and maybe tell him she still would have stayed with him.

Totally agree on picking up the crazy chick in the floaty dress. Those guys were stupid. Of course Sam didn't even pick her up. She just popped into his car and was going to kill him even though he was never unfaithful.

Love it when Dean threatens Sam over his car, saying it better not be wrecked. "What's with shooting Casper in the face?" LOL

That is funny. I also heard him say in an interview once that he was hungry one day and started eating while they were filming and they liked it so they started making his character stuff his face whenever possible. lol

Did anyone notice they mixed shells with salt to protect themselves from evil, but they never mention shells again?

Yes I thought that same thing the 2nd time I watched season one... I can see why because really who has shells? GOOD CATCH you SHOUDL make a folder for things like that I would love to see what other people have caught!

I don't see a section for ep. 2 but just wanted to mention that the guy who played Finn on Glee and who passed away was in the opening scene :(
