wow, 5 chapters were just over 100 pages in my book!
I assume we are stopping there today? We're 1/3 of the way in :) let me know if you keep going.

Blood (view spoiler)[ I assume Konrad has cancer? Or some kind of deep staff infection. I'm not sure he's meant to live through this :( (hide spoiler)]

Elixir of life (view spoiler)[ I'm not sure who I trust less

the doctor who just arrived - he at least sounds kind of medical. I'm just worried about this "cure"!

but the doctor that's sending them on a goose chase to climb trees at night to find fungus. Does he sound bogus to just me?!?!? He sounds like he's just trying to distract them!! (hide spoiler)]

this book is really good so far. I really like reading Victor's POV because I think it's flawed and skewed based on his own ideas. I'm really enjoying it :)

Victor (view spoiler)[ is a little scary. he is hot headed and passionate. I agree with Elizabeth though, it can be frightening! (hide spoiler)]

and I'm glad (view spoiler)[ that Konrad is better...but I feel like we're just waiting for him to get sick again (hide spoiler)]

Elizabeth (view spoiler)[ is playing a very very dangerous game.
living with twins! and loving one - and NOT the hot-headed passionate one. EEEK! I'm sure she always hoped Victor just wouldn't fall for her but.... (hide spoiler)]

Henry (view spoiler)[ LOL I love all his irrational fears. I don't blame him, these twins are a little....intense (hide spoiler)]

I worry about (view spoiler)[ these errands the doctor / scientist is running them on. Is he really making the elixir of life or....something else... (hide spoiler)]

The last chapters - ch 11 - to the end
ELizabeth - (view spoiler)[ I think Victor was absolutely correct! Konrad could love her for the soft gentle things, but he would never let her be the fierce woman she could be. Konrad would keep her protected but would keep her...caged.
I think Elizabeth would have continued to want Victor but stay with Konrad and it would have been MUCH uglier later in years....if Konrad had lived :( (hide spoiler)]

Henry (view spoiler)[ OMG I LOVED him in the last few chapters. he showed amazing courage holding Victor's hand then fighting that crazy Polidori!! (hide spoiler)]

Konrad (view spoiler)[ at the end, for a moment there I kept wondering - well, if Konrad doesn't die, does Elizabeth die later...or does Henry die and then BAM!
Konrad died. I was shocked even though I shouldn't have been!! (hide spoiler)]

Polidori (view spoiler)[ I kept wondering if he was ultimately Egore - was that Frankenstein's aid's name?? I thought, hmmm, maybe he gets so old he can't do alchemy anymore. but I guess we'll see more of Polidori in the next book....he must come back to exact his revenge? I knew he wasn't doing it just for their sake!! Ugh, he was awful! Taking Victor's fingers even when he didn't have to! (hide spoiler)]

Victor (view spoiler)[ I must admit - I loved this version of him! He's dark and dangerous - not alluring in the sense that I found him hunky. But that he was exactly the fiery passionate but hot headed and stubborn. I found him to be flawed and frustrating and exactly how I thought he would have to be....to later make monsters (hide spoiler)]

those last chapters were amazing.
I love this one!

I honestly don't know what I was expecting from this book, but it wasn't this. I'm really liking it though.

The beginning (view spoiler)[ I love how it opened up with a play, but didn't straight off tell you it was a play. Maybe the play means something for the ending? (hide spoiler)]

Polidori (view spoiler)[ I think he wants to Elixir of life for himself. He isn't really trying to help Victor. (hide spoiler)]

The new doctor (view spoiler)[ I don't really trust him, but at the same time I kind of do. I think he is pretending to help, but knows he can't actually help. (hide spoiler)]

Victor (view spoiler)[I'm thinking he likes Elizabeth and she likes Konrad. It was weird when she was sleepwalking and talking about the baby. (hide spoiler)]

Just finished chapter 10. Sorry it is taking me so long. I actually went and listened to this author talk about his books, and he mentioned this one a lot. It was pretty interesting because he said a lot of the things (animals and places) were actually real places and animals.

I agree with you. Victor (view spoiler)[does seem a little scary, but I like it. The author said he tried to write the childhood of Frankenstein, so I guess this would be a good way to write his character. (hide spoiler)]

I'm not sure (view spoiler)[ how much I like Konrad. It just seems like he doesn't really care about Victor's feelings all that much. He couldn't even except the fact that Victor loves Elizabeth. (hide spoiler)]

I really want Elizabeth (view spoiler)[ to end up with Henry. He seems like a great character! He is too shy to tell her his feelings though. I hope he is in the rest of the book. (hide spoiler)]

I kind of want to read
& after this to see what happens and make the connections about Victor's past to his future.

I think I read a few reviews that talked about how accurate this book is based on the original Frankenstein and even the original author (there are accurate pieces to her original ideas and her upbringing too!)

Yeah, apparently he said he was reading it and was like "I wonder what his childhood would be like" so he wrote a book about it.

Hopefully I will finish up tonight or tomorrow. I'm liking it so far. It just kind of seems like the same thing is going to happen for the third item, but in a different way.
