Alright! It is time to vote for some picture books to read for the month of October! Please feel free to vote for a picture book to read for October and I will post any of the books listed here in the polls where everyone in the group can vote for the picture book they wish to read in October! But, you can only choose ONE picture book for this month! It can be a picture book from the group's bookshelf or from outside of the bookshelf as long as it relates to racism and prejudice in any form.

Here's my choice:

Mrs. Katz and Tush

Suggestions so far:

Mrs. Katz and Tush
Of Numbers and Stars: The Story of Hypatia

The part about Hypathia's life that deals with prejudice and hatred is actually only mentioned in the afterword (as I have just discovered), but I think it's still a wonderful book (although I think that the author does kids a disservice to only focus on the positive aspects of her life within the text proper and not how she met her end -- well, at least it was not completely ignored).

Definitely sounds interesting! We'll have to talk about the prejudice that Hypathia has gone through.
