Ilivarra was surprised to see a student waiting outside her office as she approached it. Her surprise only grew as he looked up and she saw he was another drow. "How can I help you?" she asked, her tone wary.
*****
Kaden grinned at her uneasiness. "Hello, Aunt Ilivarra."
*****
Illy blinked repeatedly. "Aunt? So, my little sister finally had a child? How did she know where to find me?" She unlocked her office and opened the door, entering and motioning for him to follow.
*****
"She scryed you." He reached into his back pocket and took out the letter, handing it to her. "This is for you."
*****
"Sit," she said, motioning to the pair of chairs across from her seat at her desk. She sat in her own chair, dropping her briefcase to the floor. Then she opened and quickly read the letter
"It will be a simple matter to enroll you. Give me about ten minutes and I'll have it done. You may go now."
*****
"Thank you, Auntie." He smiled slightly in response to her frown. "Don't worry, I won't tell anyone we're related."
*****
"Thank you." She watched him walk out, then turned to her computer. Once it booted, she enrolled him and picked out his schedule. With her sister's information about his parentage - a disturbing coincidence, she thought - she knew just what classes he would need to take.
She sighed as she re-read the letter, leaving the door to her office open as her nephew had left it.

This was her first day of work as the Potion Professor, and Elvira Nightstone did looked forward to a chance to do something that was so different from her normal jobs, at least for a while now. The thought of teaching a few young adult about the art of potion making and usage had attracted her attention since the day Ilivarra had suggested she come and teach. She had walked around the campus for about an hour now looking for the Dean's office, but then she stops and took out a potion she was planing of presenting to class on this very day. But the frustrated of now being able to location the Dean's office had gotten the better of her. So she throws the bottle on the ground. The bottle shattered into pieces and out came and K-9 dog appears. (looks like this--> http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs37/f/200... ) Elvira knew the dog was specially made to find things at comment. She bends over and lets the dog snuffs a piece of Ilivarra hair. "Find her" The dog barks and points straight ahead.
Elvira looks behind her, and frowns. The Dean's office was standing right behind her. "Well that was a waste of a good potion" She mutters as the dog disappears after it's job was completed. She walks into the building and reaches the Dean's office in less than no time. She leans on Illy's door with her arm folded over his chest. "Illy the working woman. So good to see you again, my friend"

I know that voice. It's been ages since I last heard it though. Ilivarra looked up and smiled. "Elvira! It's been too long. I am so glad you took me up on my suggestion.
"Come in, come in. Sit. Let's talk. We have much to catch up on," she said with a smile. Including what happened last night. I still can't believe it. Maybe I'm wrong, though. If I discuss it with someone, maybe I can figure out if I'm wrong or not. I do so hope I'm wrong. I don't want to be mated to a demon.

Elvira walks in and pushes the door up enough so that only a crack was in the door. She takes a seat in the chair in front of Illy. "I did needed a break from protecting bad guys after all. My skills and knowledge in the darker side of things should turn out to be very useful with the students I will be teaching. "So, I have been great. I haven't got caught or killed yet, so it's pretty safe to say that I have had an pretty good life so far. What about you? You seemed to be-I don't know. You seem a bit off. You don't give off that cold vibe you always seem to have." Elvira crosses one of her legs over the other as she tries to figure out what has happened in Illy's life.
"A bit off? Yes, you could say that. Though that doesn't even begin to cover it. After last night, I feel more than a bit off. I don't even feel like myself." She lifted her hand and flicked her wrist, the door closing as she did so.
"If I tell you something, the reason I feel so very off, you have to promise not to tell anyone. And I don't want anyone to overhear us, which would be why I closed the door." She sighed and shrugged her shoulders, glancing briefly out the window. I wonder where he is now. I should stay away from him, but I can't help but want to see him(view spoiler).
She smiled sadly at her friend when she looked back forwards.

"An man-no way" Elvira recognized the longing look in her eyes. In her line of work, she was seen many fall in love and others whom from their destined partners in the unlikely persons. "Your in love with someone. Who is he?Please tell me you are in love with that charming elf prince"Elvira wasn't the one to pick dates for her friends nor was she really the one to date. Her profession had killed any chances she had of really developing any bond with anyone, which is one of her personal reasons for taking on the job. To top things off she had only really taken a small interest in elves because of her friendship with Ilivarra. Her profession as a guardian, assassin, and escort had hard her heart to and. had toughen her emotions to anyone who may want to get to know her.
"Elf prince?" Illy asked, snorting indelicately. "I'd nearly forgotten about him. Sadly, no. Besides, his people would never accept a dark elf as their queen," she said with a shrug.
She slouched back into her chair. "No, but my life would be so much easier if that were true." She sighed softly. "I'm sure I've told you about my one restriction for men I won't touch? No demons." She paused and waited to her friend to nod, then continued. "Well, last night, I broke my own rule.
"I never would have done so, but it was weird. It was like I forgot he was a demon blood. It must have happened when I met his eyes for a split second; he made me forget that. So I just thought he was a vampire. Damn him!" She shook her head and leaned forwards over the desk.
(view spoiler)"It wouldn't be so bad if I could get him out of my head. But I can't. I didn't want him to leave last night. I want to be with him now. I fear the worst. I'm almost certain he is my soul mate. The only way I know of to be certain is to be with him again. I do and don't want to do that." She sighed softly, slumping once more.
"I just wish it had been anyone else."

Elvira listened with an amused interest in her friend's tale. She had nodded as she knew well of Illy's number one rule against all demons. She herself agreed that the creatures are nothing to play around with-in the romantic field anyway. She had nod her head understanding the the way Illy had felt.
Mistake number one, Illy, never let your guard down with any demon. And this one seems like he is very powerful. I may have to meet him to see if what kind of demon we are dealing with here just in case. Elvira moves to the edge of her chair when she saw Illy doing the same.
She covers her mouth to cover up a amused laugh. She did find the whole situation amusing yet ironic. "You made one slip up and now you're bonded to a demon, and from the sounds of it: he's a pretty damn hottie. I must meet him soon or at least see him." Elvira had lowered her hand to reveal her smile. "Fate must be playing her little tricks again. I suggest you find out if this is real like you say. It's one thing to be only enjoying yourself, but it's another to actually be in love with this guy, especially if he turns out to be some kind of demon lord." Elvira makes a face of annoyance. She hated to deal with demon lords. They were so power craze and controlling with their mates from what she had seen.

"I am NOT in love with him. At least, I don't thing I am. Shit. I want him. Want him so much it hurts. And, yes, he is a hottie.(view spoiler) Demon Lord? Oh, God, I hope not.
"But what are the odds? I mean, he is only half-demon. I did some research, in so far as I could, and from what I could find, his mother was human. Of course, records that old are spotty at best," she explained with a shrug.
"What bothers me most is how easily he made me forget his heritage. (view spoiler)
"Simple lust I could deal with, even understand - you will, too, as soon as you see him. But this, this is something more. And it scares the daylights out of me.
"I am so glad you showed up today. I really needed someone to talk to about this."

Elvira only shakes her head a few times. "Your language and expression says differently. Besides you know what I always say: Go for it, have some fun while you still can, and hope for the best. The worst thing that could happen is if he drains you dry, which I know will be impossible, since seem to always have some sort of trick" Elvira leans back in her chair.
"Ha! If he can make my cold heart melt, then he's a good one" Elvira waved a hand with an as if look on her face. She was really getting excited about exploring the staff members here, especially the mystery demon who seemed to have capture Ilivarra's heart. She was also sure she would have to call upon some of her old knowledge in the near future.
"So he's one of those vampires. Spotty is right. I hope we are not dealing with an ancient vampire or an elite one at that. The two are difficult in both power and strength, plus he has demonic blood to go along with his vampire powers. Why is it that I always ends up with tough cases in the end" Elivra blows out air.
Her eyes softened at Illy next words. "Maybe he is your soul partner. It's not that hard for two people to flow on cloud nine. Maybe you allowed yourself to forget the fact that he was a vampire so you could allow yourself to go for him. I'm sorry but I just have a hard time thinking that you let a vampire used his powers to control your mind, even if he is powerful" Elvira stands up and reaches to take Illy's hand.
"You shouldn't be afraid to give yourself to someone, even if he is a demon. Just know your boundaries, so you wouldn't let him control you or change you if you're sure he was controlling you at first"

"He's not an ancient vampire. Not quiet. He was born in 1769. I've no idea when he was turned, but he doesn't look terribly old. Elite? That's entirely possible. Especially with the demon blood in the mix.
"I didn't forget about him being a vampire; that's never been a problem for me. Vampires get drunk on elf blood after all. What I forgot was his demon blood. That pisses me off, too. I would never have acted the way I did had I remembered.(view spoiler)
"I've no intention of letting him change me. Though, I'm sure that could change if he is my soul mate. But he has no idea elves can be changed, else I'm sure he would have attempted it last night."
Illy shakes her friend's hand. "Thanks for letting me get all that out. Sorry for talking your ear off. I barely even let you get a word in. I do apologize for that."

(Blah, sorry I meant to say demon. I was tire when I wrote this, and I will edit my post.)
Elvira eyes shined like diamonds when she heard the comment Ilivarra had mentioned about vampires. "I thought that was a rumor. So is it true? I have not seen a vampire getting drunk off the blood of an elf in my formal profession." She was a bit worried about her friend's changed in behavior. For her to just give herself over to another was abnormal, and the fact that she still seemed to lust after the vampire-demon was even more of an odd behavior.
"Really, Illy, you do not need to become a vampire. If he is your soul mate, then you two already will live very long lives, and I don't thing the Dean should be hunting her students and staff as prey. Drinking blood doesn't suit you, and I would hate to lose a good friend over her new transformation" Elvira cocks her head to the side.
"I really don't mine our little conversations, since we do not get to have them much. I missed them I must say" She paused to reflect on the past a little. "I should go check out the staff members I will be working with anyway. "

"Oh it's definitely true. It also allowed me to control HIM a little. Enough to make him stop drinking from me at least," she said with a small shrug. "Which is good, because that means he can't drain me. Which I'm fairly certain he wants to do; he was angrier over what happened between us than I was.
"I'm already going to live a long time just because I'm an elf. If I ever do let him change me, it will be after I retire from working here.
"Yes, you should go meet everyone. He's the only vampire on staff, also the only demon, so you can guess what he teaches. I've missed our talks as well. Come by any time. My door's always open for you. Well, maybe not if I'm alone with him in here," she said with a wink.

Elvira chuckles at her friends comment. "Hand a sign or something on you door, and try not to get caught. That wouldn't be good for your image" Elvira giggles and walks toward the door. "To bad, you're taking. That special friend of mine keeps acting about you-at least not I can tell him you're taken mostly. " Elvira planed to get a picture of the demon professor, and she thought she may even drop by his office to see how he looked...just a peek perhaps. "Later chick" She waves with her back turned and walks out of Ilivarria's office.
"Later," Illy said, waving to her friend's back. Once she was gone, Illy closed her office door with a gesture again.
"Special friend?" she murmured. "What special friend?" She shrugged, certain she should know who Elvira spoke of, but she couldn't remember. And honestly didn't care that she couldn't remember. That had to be a bad sign. He shows up and she doesn't care about other men? Definitely a bad sign. Good thing she wasn't planning on staying long. This office wasn't proving any more conducive to working than her home office.
"I have to get him out of my head, out of my system. Damn him!" she exclaimed, hitting the desk with both fists. She growled with frustration. She had to do something - anything - to distract herself from him.
Paperwork had worked as a distraction for about half an hour earlier. Then she'd remembered she'd told her nephew she'd enroll him. His heritage just made her think of Draven, her own demon lover. It disturbed her greatly that both she and her sister had demons for lovers.
Her younger sister was convinced hers was her soul mate, that he'd only left her because he'd been summoned away by the very devil himself. Illy wasn't so sure she believed that. But who was she to know? It could well be true; from what she'd been told, he sounded like a Demon Lord. So how the fuck had her sister accidentally summoned him instead of an imp? Demon Lords could only be summoned by the devil.
Unless... he'd somehow seen her preforming the summoning and had decided to just show up. That she would believe; the women of her family were always curvy. Men had been known to fall all over themselves while trying to get close to her; she'd seen the same happen over her mother when she was young.

After about fifteen minutes, Illy threw up her hands in defeated frustration. It didn't matter what she did, she couldn't get THAT MAN out of her thoughts. With a growl, she stood and stalked out of the room, barely remembering to close the door of her office behind her. As long as she'd been here, she knew where each office was in the building, and had overseen the reassigning of the offices to this year's new faculty, of which there were far too many. Still, she knew where to find his office, so she headed straight there, halfway hoping he wasn't in.
Ilivarra had finally decided against following Draven. She could, after all, just watch him from a distance. It was how her sister had found her, after all. The fact that she hadn't so much as attempted scrying in years shouldn't matter at all. It was like, what was that human expression, riding a bike? It wasn't something you forgot once learned.
It took her several minutes to find an appropriate bowl, but then it took almost no time at all to finish setting up once she had it. She filled the wide, shallow silver bowl with pure water, then murmured a few words over it...
She saw Draven standing in the Forest of Dreams. Odd place for a meeting, she thought to herself. Then something odd happened, something that had never happened before: The vision zoomed in and she saw the forest through his eyes, but only for a second before another vision swam into focus.
He stood in a ballroom, wearing a suit. Beside him, she saw herself in an elegant gown. He took her hand and led her around the room in a dance. He twirls her once and she fades, as does the ballroom, the forest reappearing around him. Dark energy boiled up from his skin to pollute the air of the forest. “WHO’S MESSING WITH ME!!!” His scream echoes around her office.
"You are” A voice similar to Draven's voice answers. A darker looking version of Draven stood before Draven. He was paler than the real Draven, his eyes were black as coal, and his lips were red with blood. He had claws instead of hands. On his back sat two large black wings that were similar to a bird's wings. His fangs could be seen hanging just over his lip and he had two horns that sat atop of his head. “You will become me very soon, and...
Ilivarra ran her hand through the water, disrupting the vision. What the bloody hell was all that? Why did the Forest show him me? And that... thing?? "Oh my God," she whispered. "He is a Demon Lord! Fucking hell!"
She shoved the bowl off her desk, heedless of the mess doing so made. She propped her elbows on the desk and put her head in her hands. "Fuck. We are all screwed.
"A Demon Lord? Someone hates me...
"Or someone trusts me a hell of a lot more than I deserve. I am his mate. I am all that can prevent him turning into that... thing. I have to save the school. Maybe the world.
"Yeah, we are all screwed."

Hours later, Ilivarra returned to her office. She'd gone off to His home, had been with Him again, and planned to meet Him later. Maybe, just maybe, she could get some work done in the meantime. There were several dozen more cars in the student parking lot, a good sign. Hopefully most of the students were here already then. But the campus felt dark, oppressive. Had she messed up and accepted too many dark-aligned students without balancing them out with an equal number of light-aligned students/staff? Or were they just the only ones who had arrived so far?
She picked up the silver bowl she'd shoved off her desk so many hours ago and put it on a shelf. "Well, at least the carpet's dry," she muttered. She went to her chair and turned her computer back on. She started looking over the list of students and staff, checking to see if she'd messed up.
