This will be the thread for those reading The Father of Forensics: The Groundbreaking Cases of Sir Bernard Spilsbury, and the Beginnings of Modern CSI by Colin Evans in November. Spoilers are not allowed on this thread.

Charlotte (charley_100) | 322 comments there seems to be two different versions of this...slightly different title. Is it essentially the same book?

Helen French (helenfrench) | 52 comments The contents seem to be the same, looks like the Kindle edition has been put on Amazon as a new version but I think they're all the same. Just bought this on Kindle for £2.03 anyway, so hope it's the right one!

Jolovessnow | 8 comments Something about the way this book is written seems, I don't know, amateurish? Hope this is not a spoiler. Any comments?

Yes, I know what you mean - it feels a bit like a slightly awkward A level essay. It's a shame, because I'm enjoying it, but the style is too distracting for it to be unputdownable - which I think it could be.

Jolovessnow | 8 comments Can you define "A level" for me (Boston, Massachusetts). I know it's an education level but not sure which one :-)

Susan (suze0501) | 190 comments Yes, sorry. It's 16-18 year old education.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to get to this, though I am keen to read it. May come back to it after reading two (short) December reads first.

Charlotte (charley_100) | 322 comments Just started....anyone else struck by the author's unending adoration for Spilsbury. Verging on mancrush territory :) Finding the cases really interesting though.
