And thus we start our first Ayn Rand novel!

Willis | 27 comments Any thoughts on this one so far? I'm only about 160 pages in; so far pretty ordinary.

Hi Willis,

I find that it is and it isn't-- that in terms of plot it could be viewed rather mundanely. But in terms of it challenging liberal ideas and presenting instead Rand's objectivism it could be viewed as quite provocative.

Marylu Sanok | 19 comments I found this book very interesting in the ideas that Ms Rand expressed. Her ideas were considered quite controversial at the time.

The dialogue was mundane at times but the story has held up through the years. This is on my list of favorite books.

Christie | 4 comments Finally finished this book last week. I really enjoyed it, and was quite emotionally torn throughout by the ideas expressed--and I applaud any book that can do that to me.
Any word on the next one we'll read? It doesn't seem like many people are participating in this group currently...

I agree. When I read the book I found it very powerful.

I'll add a poll for the next book soon.
