What does Haymitch mean when he tells Katniss before the Games begin, “You just remember who the enemy is. That’s all”?

Jeff Allen | 3 comments He's reminding Katniss the real enemy in the games is the arena itself, and ultimately the enemy is the Capitol (President Snow).

Totally agree with Jeff on this question!

Sandra | 9 comments Before going into the Quarter Quell arena, Peeta and Katniss tell Haymitch they don't want any allies. Behind the scenes, Haymitch has been building up an ally team that they don't know about. This is most obvious when Katniss and Finnick are the first two tributes to reach the cornucopia. Katniss has an arrow strung and ready to fly at Finnick and Finnick has his trident raised and ready to fly at Katniss. There is a tense stand-off and Finnick says to Katniss, "Good thing we're allies, huh?" Katniss thinks this is some kind of trick and is about to let an arrow fly when Finnick moves his hand a little and flashes her with the gold Mockingjay cuff bracelet he's wearing. The bracelet is originally Haymitch's. Katniss quickly figures out that Haymitch has gone behind her and Peeta's back to build them an ally team and she pairs up with Finnick and Mags. Finnick is from District 4, and known as a Career. Haymitch telling Katniss "You just remember who the enemy is" is his cryptic way of telling Katniss that the obvious enemy (career, other tribute in Quarter Quell) isn't the enemy. The whole group of tributes and all of Panem have a much larger enemy: President Snow and the Capitol.
