What is your favourite movie?

message 2: by Josiah (new)

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) My favorite movie ever is Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Others that are right near the top include Titanic, The Lion King, Hook, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Princess and the Frog, Ghostbusters, the original True Grit and Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Adriana I don't really know my favorite movie but I was an avid fan of Beauty and the Beast when I was younger. I LOVE Belle <3 She's my girl. Although when I got older I questioned the movie because after all she falls in love with someone who keeps her in his castle.

One of my favorites now is Sweet Home Alabama. I can watch it everyday (:

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) I assume you probably like Tangled, too. :-)

Belle and her father were trespassing, but I don't think one has to defend the Beast's locking her up in the castle to understand how she could have fallen in love with him. The Prince became the Beast in the first place because he was such a selfish individual, and the curse that descended on his castle only deepened his bitterness through the years. The Beast became twisted and cruel, unable to change until he found Belle, who made the improbable task of changing who he was on the inside worth the internal battle that would ensue. If Belle had hated him forever then all would have been lost, but because she saw there was more to the Beast than his monstrous outside, she found the human within who was worth loving even for all his great flaws. That, to me, is the beauty of the film.

Adriana Haha (: Yes. There are a lot of Disney movies and songs I love. I recently have been listing to Colors of the Wind I think it's called from Pocahontas. I've also watched Tangled two days in a row just because.

Have you seen The Lion King sequel? Not even Netflix has it in there system but it was a fantastic sequel to one great film.

I love your view of Beauty and the Beast. I will forever love their story no matter what little things I may think was a bit odd about it. Belle appeals to the reader in me. She's also very strong, opinionated, and stands up for what she wants and what she doesn't which I love.

Adriana I'm so bad at memorization but when Mother Knows Best comes on I sing along with it reasonably well (;

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) "I'll brush and brush and brush and brush and brush my hair!" I've found myself singing Mother Knows Best every once in a while, too. :-) "There's just one thing that I suggest..."

I have seen Simba's Pride. It is a good movie, one of the best products of DisneyToon Studios. That is the one you mean, right? Or are you talking about The Lion King 1 1/2?

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) Flynn Rider! He does know his way around the woods. In that way, he's a little like an earlier Disney hero, Robin Hood! :-) I saw Tangled twice in theaters, but not since then, actually. There's nothing like watching it on the big screen.

Adriana I am thinking of Simba's Pride. I have a need to watch it all of a sudden. The Lion King VHS we had got messed up so I've only really watched it once but Simba's Pride I've watched a good many times.

Flynn Rider also reminds me of Aladdin probably because they are both thieves. A Whole New World and I See the Light also seem similar to me for some reason.

True. Everything is better in the theaters. I've never really watched Robin Hood. Maybe once when I was a kid.

Josiah (kenjenningsjeopardy74) Simba's Pride has good music, far better than most animated direct-to-video sequels. The song We Are One is good enough to have been in the original.

I can see what you mean about Flynn Rider and Aladdin being similar. They are much alike in disposition and personal style, and both know their way around the area they do business in far better than the guards who would try to catch them.

You've never watched Disney's Robin Hood? It's a beautiful film, one of the Disney classics on which Don Bluth worked his magic (The Rescuers being another). It's a fabulous adaptation of the many various legends of Robin Hood, and the music of Roger Miller (who voices the rooster) is the perfect accompaniment.

Adriana I think I've seen it when I was a kid. I know the basic plot of the story. Who wrote the original story of Robin Hood, do you know?

I had
"I've got a dream!
She's got a dream!
I've got a dream!
She's got a dream!
I just want to see the floating
lanterns gleam!
And with every passing hour
I'm so glad I left my tower --
Like all you lovely folks
I've got a dream!" stuck on repeat all day today.

More Tangled! :-D What could be better?

Legends of Robin Hood have circulated since the late Middle Ages, so it's hard to pinpoint one novelization that should be called the first. To me, Howard Pyle's 1800s classic The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood is the standard by which all other Robin Hood novels are judged. If you said to me, "I want to read Robin Hood", that is the book I would hand you.
