Lily | 9 comments I read this book about 7 years ago. It's been driving me mad since!
I'm pretty sure it had a pale blue cover (and possibly a butterfly). It was a relatively short book, maybe 300 pages.
It was set in a future where babies were microchipped. A group of teens lived outside the city with an older man because their parents gave them up to save them from the government. I can't remember the girls name but she finds out in a letter that her mother wanted to name her Hope.
There was a side story romance with one of the other runaways.
The language hadn't changed except 'king' was the new swear word. Much of history had been forgotten. The city was luxurious and slightly futuristic.
The girl discovers the corrupt government and her mothers death and that drives the plot. I think there is also a computer in charge of running the city.
Any help would be much appreciated!

April | 26 comments This sounds like Unwind

A book away from an episode of hoarders (fidgit77) | 257 comments I'm sorry but, that description sounds nothing like Unwind. It is an awesome book though.

Lina (booksnotlovers) Some of it kind of sounds like the Uglies trilogy. Maybe you can look for your book in lists with the uglies in it? They sound very similar anyhow.

Bobby Larsen | 30 comments i think i maybe have heard it on audiobook myself once but i can't remember what it was called in danish

message 11: by Lily (new)

Lily | 9 comments It's definitely not Unwind, though I have been meaning to read that!
I love the Uglies series, and I've gone through similar books, and lists of dystopian/utopian novels but I can't seem to find it. It's not Matched either.
At least I'm finding interesting books during my search for this mysterious novel!

Caren Nelson | 1 comments This sounds a lot like a book I have been trying to find for YEARS! Even the pale blue cover, but I don't remember a red butterfly. There were kids/teens (maybe from the same family) that were trying to escape a community, but they were microchipped so their whereabouts would always be known.
My book is OLD--I read it in about 1976 :-)
