Patrick Loafman | 3 comments I'm a wildlife biologist and an author. I bring in my love of amphibians into my new novel, Somewhere Upriver. Somewhere Upriver by Patrick Loafman

Do you have any other suggestions of fiction where natural history plays a prominent role?

Welcome, Patrick.

I'm curious to see how many people think Edward Rutherford's or James Michener's novels should be included in the category of "natural history fiction." While they certainly are historical fiction novels, with the main character being the place (rather than a person)...do they cover enough of the nature / environment of the place to be included?

My book, THE FORESTER is a work of fiction. It is an adventure story, a love story, & a story about conflicting environmental values.

Ray Zimmerman | 706 comments I recommend any works by Ron Rash, but particularly The World Made Straight or Serena.

Annis Pratt | 33 comments I recommend the site www.eco-fiction. com for great lists of short stories and novels that focus on nature. My Infinite Games series is all about the East Anglian Fens and the resistance of their inhabitants against drainage - lots of frogs! www.annispratt.com
