Welcome, Patrick.
I'm curious to see how many people think Edward Rutherford's or James Michener's novels should be included in the category of "natural history fiction." While they certainly are historical fiction novels, with the main character being the place (rather than a person)...do they cover enough of the nature / environment of the place to be included?

The ForesterMy book, THE FORESTER is a work of fiction. It is an adventure story, a love story, & a story about conflicting environmental values.
I recommend any works by Ron Rash, but particularly The World Made Straight or Serena.https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
I recommend the site www.eco-fiction. com for great lists of short stories and novels that focus on nature. My Infinite Games series is all about the East Anglian Fens and the resistance of their inhabitants against drainage - lots of frogs! www.annispratt.com

Do you have any other suggestions of fiction where natural history plays a prominent role?
