So, what should we read this month? I hope we get lots of suggestions, and lots of votes! Anyone interested in changing the direction of our reading genre a bit. Perhaps there are some good New Adult Paranormal or Sci-Fiction? What about a comedy? What do you think?

Shattered Promises (Shattered Promises, #1) by Jessica Sorensen or The Fallen Star (Fallen Star, #1) by Jessica Sorensen Ember (Death Collectors, #1) by Jessica Sorensen or Ember X (Death Collectors, #1) by Jessica Sorensen
(I'm kinda curious about both of the above sets of series. The Fallen Star and Ember are YA but Shattered Promises and Ember X are NA versions of the YA books. )

Garrett Zecker (garrettzecker) | 1 comments I am a publisher and we just released the ten year anniversary (but first legitimate release) of a New Adult book that was published and handed around in 2004 in an 'underground' sort of fashion in Boston and New York. If it is picked, I would love to set a few days to make it free for Kindle and offer a hard copy discount!

Also, I haven't posted much, but this is a great group!

Toni Oh decisions, decisions. I want something different. Just not sure what. Significance, The Perfect Game, Frigid, Bad Things, and Seven Years, and Perfect Lie all look pretty interesting. I cant decide. I leave it to you guys....

Diane (dianezil) | 23 comments I just started Significance....I. Vote that one!

message 15: by Michelle (new)

Michelle I just started Shattered Promises so that one has my vote.

message 16: by Heather (new)

Heather Williams (rucifey) | 67 comments Michelle wrote: "I just started Shattered Promises so that one has my vote."

How are you liking it so far? I know it's a NA version of The Fallen Star. I just started Ember X and she rewrote the YA version into a NA. Some parts are a bit stumbly. So far it's just age changes so some of the wording has been changed and at times it's awkward.

message 24: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Heather...I read Fallen Star and I think I liked it better than Shattered Promises. It didn't flow as easily as Fallen Star.

message 25: by Michelle (new)

I finished Ember X and Ember yesterday. I agree with the flow thing. There were times the NA Ember X was really confusing, so I'd go back and read the YA Ember and it made more sense. It just seemed like sex was thrown into the mix just for the sake of having a sex scene.
I'm planning on reading Fallen Star soon.
I guess if she wanted to write a NA Paranormal she should've went with a whole new story - or maybe the same but actually wrote the story as if the characters had aged - like continuing the story. (Did that make sense?)

message 29: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Okay I finished Significant and I LOVED it. I am halfway through book #2.

Kelsey (keiben) | 8 comments Read Significance and loved it!!! I read the remaining three books soon after. SO happy we are branching out the Sci-Fi world.

message 33: by Diane (new)

Diane (dianezil) | 23 comments Finished. I know I said paranormal was not my thing, but I didn't hate it. In fact I am on book 3 right now....I have to know how it all ends!! I will admit that the way the author ends each book sucks. In both 1 and 2 I was "wtf? Are you kidding me?"
Book 3 is dragging a little now. I just need closure for Maggie and Caleb soon :)

message 34: by Toni (new)

Toni I have to admit i havent started this book yet. Partlally because its a series, which means downloading the rest of the series and once i start a series i HAVE to finish it. But i have about 300 books already on my kindle and nook that i have to read. Ugghh. My tbr just gets worse and worse. I will read it of course. Just been putting it off so i'm not one clickin away for the rest of the books, like i did with last months Addicted series. Maybe next month we could do a stand alone? This series thing is making my addiction worse! Pretty soon I'll need a support group! Has anyone read this book and not liked it or couldnt care less about the rest of series? I doubt i'll be one of them. Once i start i have to see it through to the end. I'm obsessive that way, dammit it to hell. either way I'll start it soon. And since i read most books in 1 sitting, it wont take me long to get through the entire series. So much to read, so little time

Toni, I hear you!! I am the same way, its my personal OCD as well. Sometimes I am like can someone just write a stand alone book, with out multiple sequels or the male POV version!!?? Lol, then I would probably complain about that too. Its not a wonderful story, its good and I need to know how it all goes down at this point.

message 36: by Toni (new)

Toni Thanks Diane. At least I am not alone in this crazy one click downloading frenzy i am in. But i know me, if the story is remotely good then i'll be getting the rest of the series as soon as i finish the first book! I cant help it. I have to know!!!

I did finish it and kinda sorta wanted to read the others, but instead of buying them I went searching to borrow. The second book is ready for me at the library and the third book is "in transit". There was a .5 (I can't remember where it fell, but it's after the first) that was free on amazon. I'll go look.

message 39: by Heather (new)

Heather Williams (rucifey) | 67 comments Here it is!
http://www.amazon.com/Reverence-Signi...

And I was wrong. It's "A short, THREE CHAPTERS from Caleb's point of view from each of the first three books in the series given as a Thank You to fans. It is not necessary to read to continue on with the series. It also includes the first two chapters and a sneak peak of the last book, Independence, which is set to release Dec 2012."

Toni Thanks Heather. I'll have to check my library to see if they have them. Bit my library is so small and rinky dink i doubt they will. But definitly worth a shot. Thanks!

I don't know about where you live but the libraries here are part of a county wide system and I can request books from other libraries. I think they branch out of county sometimes too because I live in Fresno County and sometimes I've gotten books that are stamped Tulare and Kern County.

My closest library is small too, but requesting them helps. (The also have an ebook site so you can borrow e-library books, but I know this series isn't on there.)

Hope that helps.
