Reanna I loved book 1 and 2... book 3 was good but disappointing. However, I thought it was pure laziness on the writer's part to not give a reason for Carol's behavior.
Why was she so miserable, Why was she abusing Emma and not anyone else. Wasn't Carol's abuse the main reason for Emma needing to find a "REASON TO BREATHE" in the first place? THEN WHYYYY was this not settled. I hoped to get a reason for carol in book 2 but they just forgot about her and went on to talk about emma's mother. You cannot just start a story, not conclude it and then jump to another story. Readers deserved to at least understand why the Catalyst for the book was the way that she was. Anyone agree? Your thoughts please :)

Krista This is honestly one of my favorite trilogy sets I've read in a long time. I just love it. That being said, the whole Carol situation frustrates me to no end. I mean in Reason to Breathe, she WAS the problem. You're right, she did just disappear. Personally, I would like to know more about Emma's feelings about what happened with her and Carol and finding out why she did what she did rather than with her mom which I felt like had a great deal of influence on what was going on with her and Evan. I don't know. I've reduced Carol's actions to jealousy about the money Emma was to receive and the unconditional love her father had for her. The fact that he was willing to give up everything just to be with Rachel and Emma, but I also think that was just me trying to fill in the gaps. So? yeah, I don't know. haha, I'm just glad someone else feels my pain.

Hey Good point.....i guess that could be a reason.. jealousy that she would soon be rich! But still... we're just assuming. and yeah it would have been so great to read about Emma's growth from the whole carol experience , her understanding of the whole thing and maybe even some forgiveness.. but we didnt get that... oh well guess we'll never know :(

Michelle W I agree with both of you, we never did find out what Carol's problem was with Emma and I also wanted to know what George knew about Carol abusing Emma. Especially after the knife, knee and the glass door incidents. Also thought it was strange that Carol kept staying at her mom's after these things happened even the concussion at the basketball game.
