Valiant Comics Bloodshot if featured in a new short story: Bloodshot: Before I Die Alone
http://www.amazon.com/Bloodshot-Befor...
Amazon Worlds for only $1.99
The United States of America is crippled by the Second American Civil War
A powerful organization called Project Rising Spirits is spreading their influence to the highest levels of power
When a former agent of the PRS is systematically terminating government and corporate officers, Bloodshot, enhanced with nanomachines that give him uncharged healing abilities, strength and speed is called by Project Rising Spirits to hunt down and stop his former friend, a deadly assassin that goes by the codename Pulse.
Bloodshot ultimately learns there are greater powers at play, and it is they that have locked away his memories – creating the perfect killing machine within the man he used to be.
I'll give a hearty recommendation of Emperor Mollusk Versus the Sinister Brain. Loved it. The reader is great as well.

I really enjoyed this Halloween story. Very different, and very entertaining.

Damian grew on me. In the beginning, I hated to hate him. Peter Tomasi's Batman and Robin won me over.
Exactly. The growth of the character is fascinating. I am really sorry they killed him off (and trust that, in the usual comic book way, he will get better).

Nah! I thought we had discussed it before, and you didn't really care for it. But we all have different tastes! It wasn't a judgment :)
Hi fellow superhero fans. I'll say up front this is self-promotion... so if that's not allowed in this thread then please accept my apologies and I will remove it if asked to by the mod. I have written a series of superhero books, and a novella in the series is free.
Where's Lolly? is book 3 in the Class Heroes series. It is a short story, and it's absolutely FREE on Amazon, Kobo and Barnes and Noble. (Links below).
It is a standalone story, so you don't need to have read other books in the series to enjoy it.
Lolly Rosewood is 16 years old, she's on the run and — worse still — she's lost her incredible superpowers.
Lolly has a chequered history, so who in their right mind would give her shelter and offer help? An old friend of her father is her only chance of salvation, but the Security Services are closing in.

Stephen - I agree with Natalie. I think the only exception we can make to posting self-promotions is here, and only if it's free. And if you say up front it's self-promotion :)

From the bestselling author of Wolves of Rome:
Europe has fallen to an ancient power that rose within the shadows of history. A year after the war the seemly unstoppable power of the Order is poised to strike across the Atlantic. The world stands on the brink of total subjugation, with only the United States as the last superpower capable of standing against the rising darkness.
However, unknown to them, the true enemy lies closer than anyone could have expected.
When one of the Order's greatest generals, Velvet, is found in Alaska, her arrival sets new events in motion as the doomsday clock is fast approaching.
Hunted by her people, Velvet seeks to learn the truth about her origins. What she will learn can change the course of history forever.

I did not know that!
I know that they have the subscription, and the first one's free and all that - but I didn't know they had free downloads all the time like that.
I love Dracula! And Cumming & Curry? That would be awesome - I'll have to get that. Thanks!

Curses! It doesn't look like Dracula is free anymore :(
But I did pick up the Legend of Sleep Hollow read by the star of the new show (which is pretty decent...I saw the first season, but haven't had time for the second).
And I would have loved a book of Drizzt short stories. I never got much into his character - I only read that first trilogy he was in, but I loved Forgotten Realms. (Geez...so long ago...)
Thanks - I'll have to check periodically to see what they put for free...

OK. I take that back.
Dracula is free on Kindle.
But if you get it free on Kindle, you can download the Whispersync narration automatically without buying the audiobook???
That's cool!
So - to figure that out, I joined an Audiobooks group here on Goodreads. Sorry for being off-topic...(not comics or superheroes)...but I think that's a pretty cool thing.

Thanks, Natalie! I'm going to try to hit there tomorrow. (There's not a B&N in my town, but my work is within walking distance of one. :) )
I actually put a reminder on my phone a month ago when I saw this advertised! I hope they'll have some stuff left when I get there. To take home to my kids. Yeah - that's the ticket! :)

I stopped by and got a couple posters and a "Gotham Youth" sampler that had portions of Gotham Academy and a few other comics in it. They were still using last year's 75th Anniversary Batman bags :)
Good grief. If you search on Amazon Kindle books for "superhero" and sort by price, there's a ton of books for free.
I just downloaded a few that looked interesting to me.
One kids book: Superbunny and the Peas of Doom: A 'read-aloud' bedtime story for parents to read to/with kids aged 5 to 11 years

And some short stories:

Supervillain

Captain Cyberspace: Attack of the Social Justice Warrior

If anyone has ever noticed the small picture I use for the club, it's a screenshot of the Kindle app on my phone. Most of these are superhero books (or at least books about people with powers) I've downloaded for free - and the following books seem to still be free for download.
