message 11: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 10. The 7 Most Powerful Prayers that will change your life forever
Adam Hogue
4 stars. Prayer is important and this was an interesting way to classify them, I thought

message 12: by Karol (new)

Karol Hi, Melissa! You are off to a rockin' start! So glad you're in our challenge this year.

message 13: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Thanks. I doubt I will continue at the speed I did. I was on vacation so I read more than I usually have time to read, so there will be a slow down this week for sure

message 14: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 11. A Moveable Feast the is a collection from multiple writers. Some were good and interesting stories, some were terrible and uninteresting. fortunately those that were terrible weren't terribly long. I gave it 3 stars as kind of an average between the good and the bad

message 15: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 12. Soulless Gail Carrier
3 stars. A read that doesn't require much thought. combines vampires and werewolves and a preternatural women, or one without a soul. Takes place I'm 19th century London.

message 16: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 13. The Marvelous Land of Oz. Frank Baum

very ridiculous book, but enjoyable. This one starts several years (maybe) after the Wizard of Oz ends. The Tin Man and the scarecrow as well as Glenda the good are all part of the story.

message 17: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 14. Dyslexia and the Ipad. overcoming Dyslexia with Technology by James Nuttall

very disappointed. When you purchase a book with the hope you might learn something that could help your child you expect more than essentially a list of apps that could help.

message 18: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 15. Winter King by Thomas Penn
4 stars
This is the story of Henry the VII from when he took the crown to slightly after his death. While it is an easy read it does take time to understand and take in

message 19: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 16. Sword of Hemlock by Jordan MacLean

I picked up this book because a friend of mine wrote it initially. It is not my usual genre but it was a surprise to find that it was very enjoyable. a female knight must save her father's land. there is also a supernatural element that must be overcome. it is an enjoyable and exciting read. The first of a trilogy

Charleen (charleenlynette) | 1688 comments Wow, way to get ahead early!

message 21: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Thanks. As the next few weeks, I will have to get work completed, the head start will be needed

message 22: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 17. Four to Score
4 stars easy read to not think about and it follows the pattern of the previous 3 books in the series

message 23: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 17. VIBRANT:To heal and be whole- From India to Oklahoma
Krishna, Dr. R. Murali

message 24: by Melissa (new)

Melissa that last one was 18

message 25: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 19 Fish by Gregory Mone

message 26: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 20 The Immortal Circus- The final act.
4 stars

message 27: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 21. To Win His Wayward Wife
22. Liberty for Paul
23. Intentions of the Earl

All by Rose Gordon

message 28: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 24. Insurgent Victoria Roth

message 29: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 25. The Park Service Ryan Winfield. 3 stars. started a little slow but improved about halfway through

message 30: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 26. Allegiant - Veronica Roth
4 stars
the third book of the trilogy and while it ties up all ends, dont expect a happy ending.

message 31: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 27. 1984 - George Orwell
4 stars. I am now convinced that 90% of people who quote this book have never read it. sure it is about a dystopia in the year 1984 where Big Brother is always watching but it is more complex than that and we do not live in Orwell's 1984

Allegiant ruined the trilogy for me. :( I don't even care about the movie. I actually still haven't read 1984. I don't go around quoting either. Lol. I want to read it!

message 33: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I can understand your thoughts on Allegient. I liked it somewhat, but it ruined some of the characters

As for 1984, I read it with a group. otherwise would probably have never tried to read it again

message 34: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 28. Ozma of Oz
4 stars. This is the story where Dorothy returns to Oz. In it we meet back up with old friends and new.

message 35: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 29. 1q84 - 3 stars intricate story but no connection with the characters.

message 36: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 30. Bradbury - Fahrenheit 451. 2 stars. The story I remember from high school. It didn't improve with time

Ahh no! Fahrenheit 451 is one of my favorites! :)

message 38: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Sometimes first impressions of books stay even with passage of time

message 39: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 31. Her Mad Hatter - book 1 of Kingdom Series Collection by Marie Hall
3.5 stars. it started ok but really it wrapped up the story too easily

message 40: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 32. A secret History. 3 stars. very disturbing and I probably should give it more stars because I found myself unable to stop reading once I got into the story but I am entirely to disturbed by it to ever pick it up again

message 41: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 33 The Kingmaker's Daughter - Philipp a Gregory
4 stars

Out of the Kingdom series, Gerard's Beauty was the one I liked the most.

message 43: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I believe that is next, so we will see

message 44: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (stacieh) | 1945 comments Finally! Someone else who didn't like Fahrenheit 451. My sister adores it, but I couldn't stand it... this is one of the few books we agree not to talk about around each other ;)

message 45: by Melissa (new)

Melissa no your not the only one. My dislike might stem from a poorly taught high school English class, but it has not lessened with time

message 46: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 34. Isolide Queen of the Western Isle - Roslindale Miles. 3 stars
I don't know when I bought this book or why. It was merely found in my huge pile of books I have bought to read over the years. It is interesting enough I suppose but I didn't find myself entranced enough to continue reading for long periods of time. It is the first in the Tristan and Isolide novels and fortunately I don't have the others so that I feel I must read it.

message 47: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 35. High Five (Stephanie Plum#5) Janet Evan ovine
3 stars. ok book one.that doesn't require thinking, but nothing spectacular

message 48: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 36. Gerard Beauty - Marie Hall. The 2nd book in the Kingdom Collection. definitely better than the first.

message 49: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 37. Red and her Wolf. Marie Hall. 4 stars

message 50: by Melissa (new)

Melissa 38. Jinni wish
2.5 stars
