I think this book would make a decent introduction to the Monuments Men and what they did, on the hand it is very dry being very fact based not a lot of 'story telling' involved. I came to this book after reading about specific artworks (Mona Lisa, Ghent Altarpiece, etc...) that had history during WWII. I knew about the Monuments Men contribution to the recovery of art such as the well known Altaussee salt mine, so I enjoyed the greater detail of events I found in this book.
-The movie is now suppose to come out February 7, 2014. It is directed by George Clooney, who also co-wrote and produced. I have watched the trailer and it does not seem to follow actual events much, but previews lie, so here's hoping.

Hello. I'm a book and movie reviewer (Irish crime, art and mystery)....a senior citizen who does reviews for fun.I recently reviewed George Clooney's THE MONUMENTS MEN. Title of my review is HOLLYWOOD NEEDS MORE MOVIES ABOUT HEROES. Here's a link (be sure and read my comment after my review received several negative votes.)
