I loved reading about Vienna. I don't think I've ever read a book set there before. Vienna was one of the most important 'characters' in the book for me.
This book was reviewed in today's NY Times Book Review. It has been published in the states by Picador, and has just been released. It got a good write-up.
Thanks for mentioning this, Diane! Here's a link to the review: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/01/12/boo...
I had a couple of questions after finishing this book -
I was very surprised when Kanakis kissed Bimbo at the end of chapter 19. Did anyone else know he was gay before that point?
Also, did you feel like suicide was the only choice for Resi at the end of the book?

I found that the second half of the book went faster...I had a hard time in the first half keeping track of all the characters. It's been really interesting to read about the experience of people returning to Austria after the war...something that hasn't been covered much in mainstream history. I think this book would have made a good movie!
