message 2: by Miriam (new)

Miriam | 3 comments I really do not care about Cyrus, but my concern is that
only one of his books have turn into a decent movie. I will read the book and skip the movie.

message 3: by Blayke (new)

Blayke (b_loves_twilight) | 6 comments i think based on what i've heard the movie will be good, so im assuming also from what i have heard that he wrote the screenplay & is then turning it into a book?? am i right??
btw i love miley cyrus!!! i think she'll do great!!

message 4: by Callie (new)

Callie Scogin | 3 comments Well, this is different that they have already got the movie in production before the book comes out. With all of his other books that have been made into movies, they used books that had been out for years. I absolutely love all of his books and I think they have done a good job with the ones that have been made into movies. Message in a Bottle, A Walk to Remember, The Notebook, and Nights in Rodanthe. Although, my favorite is and always will be, the Notebook.
I agree with Miriam, I don't really care for Miley Cyrus. They could have picked a better actress to play the main role. Oh well, we will see how it turns out on January 8, 2010!

message 5: by Vita (new)

Vita (retro_librarian) | 38 comments I just checked out his website and was pleasantly surprised by the new design.

Here is the release day of the book:

The Last Song

TO BE RELEASED SEPTEMBER 8, 2009

message 6: by Vita (new)

Vita (retro_librarian) | 38 comments I bought it the day it came out! Who else??? I will read it soon, but I am reading another book now.

message 7: by Farzan (new)

Farzan (persianguy1983) | 86 comments it's not availabe in Iran right now , so I have to wait coming to Iran book shop.

message 8: by Vita (new)

Vita (retro_librarian) | 38 comments Has anyone read it yet?

message 9: by Paula (new)

Paula My Mom just bought us each one so I will probably get if from her tomorrow. I'll finish what I'm reading now and then maybe get into it.

message 10: by Amy (new)

Amy Hayes (ahayes) | 3 comments I am loving it! aI really can't picture Miley Cyrus playing any of the characters though. It will be interesting to see who else is cast.

message 11: by Deanna (new)

Deanna (deannap) | 2 comments I picked up a copy today with the hope of reading it this weekend...

message 12: by Amy (new)

Amy Hayes (ahayes) | 3 comments I am almost done. I hope to finish tonight. The story is amazing and I find myself staying up later than I should to keep reading. I am loving it, but then again Nicholas Sparks never fails me. :)

message 13: by Paula (new)

Paula I have 2 more to read of his before starting "The Last Song". Glad to hear it's a good one!

message 14: by Amy (new)

Amy Hayes (ahayes) | 3 comments I finished it two nights ago and was in bed bawling my eyes out. I guess that's typical for me when I read Nicholas Sparks, by the end of the books I am attached to the characters. I hope you all enjoy it too! I can't wait for the next one!

message 15: by Brandie (new)

Brandie (brandiemichelle) I finished it this weekend, and really enjoyed it. It was typical Sparks...and I cried my eyes out, too. I really can't see Miley Cyrus playing the role. He could've picked someone else. But it won't stop me from going to see it!

message 16: by Jess (new)

Jess (jessparizek) I read this book in a day and a half, of course throw work in there and a good night's sleep. This book really hit home.

My parents are divorced; no affair; Dad never said anything bad about my Mom. Realtionship with Dad hasn't always been the greatest, but he's still my Dad, and I his little girl... I hope that I can show him the things Ronnnie showed Steve (ironically my dad is also Steve)

message 17: by Miriam (new)

Miriam | 3 comments Finished it last night; really liked it! It was typical and wonderful Sparks! As I suspected, Cyrus does not seem to fit Ronnie. Maybe the girl from the movie "Juno" will be a better fit. I guess I will see the movie when it comes out in DVD..

message 18: by Paula (new)

Paula Went to supper last night and while waiting to get seated, a woman and her husband and son were also waiting. She pulled out her book "A New Song" and started reading. I didn't get to talk to her as it was our turn.

message 19: by Maggie (new)

Maggie (MidnightWolfe) | 1 comments I, too, finished it last night. A wonderful, heart-touching Nicholas Sparks book that made me cry so much. Now I am wondering about the movie...I can't see Cyrus in the emotional parts, for some reason....sigh, but I guess I might as well see the movie.

message 20: by Stacy (new)

Stacy | 16 comments I finished The Last Song last night and i loved it! I thought the story and characters were fantastic. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie and how Miley Cyrus will portray Ronnie. I think it'll be interesting to see her as a rebellious teenager in the beginning and then watch as her character transforms. I'm looking forward to it. I agree that not all of his movies have done the books justice. I didn't care for Nights in Rodanthe that much so i'm hoping this one will be right up there with The Notebook and A Walk to Remember.

message 21: by Mahyar (new)

Mahyar (themaninthegrayflannelsuit) | 11 comments I finished it last week, and it was amazing!, I LOVED it.

But i found it so different to his other books i have read.(A Walk to remember, The Notebook and Message in a bottle).

I kinda hated the way he switched between characters though, some of characters were boring.

message 22: by Josh (new)

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 2 comments I finished the book on Sunday. It was amazing. It was one of my favorites that I read. It had a different feeling to it than his other books I have read.

message 23: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (blondie515) | 17 comments I finished it last month; absolutely loved it!! Can't wait to see the movie, although I don't care for Miley Cyrus that much. They should have got someone else to play the part of "Ronnie".

message 24: by Farzan (new)

Farzan (persianguy1983) | 86 comments yeah Miley Cyrus is not my favorite actress but who is decent actress for the role of Ronnie ?

message 25: by Mahyar (new)

Mahyar (themaninthegrayflannelsuit) | 11 comments I personally think Miley Cyrus is perfect for it!, even though I don't really like her.

I wish I could say the same about the main guy, I really don't like the guy they chose.

message 26: by Farzan (new)

Farzan (persianguy1983) | 86 comments who have chosen for male leading role ?

message 27: by Mahyar (new)

Mahyar (themaninthegrayflannelsuit) | 11 comments A nobody.....Liam Hemsworth.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2955013/
Don't look @ him if you haven't read the book yet, He's gonna ruin his character for you.

message 28: by Farzan (new)

Farzan (persianguy1983) | 86 comments I'll read the novel and then I'll let you know what I'm thinking about character and there is another point perhaps the director who is famous one that has thought he's good for this role and I should see movie to judge about his performance.

message 29: by Natasha (new)

Natasha (tasha_13) Is it just me or does everyone else think Liam Hemsworth would play a brilliant Will? He's just as hot as i expected him to be :D

I actually cannot physically wait for it to come out in the cinema!

message 30: by Farzan (new)

Farzan (persianguy1983) | 86 comments Dear Natasha
Liam Hemsworth could be hot but he could act the character in Nicholas Sparks' novel very well unless the fans will be disappointed.

message 31: by Mahyar (new)

Mahyar (themaninthegrayflannelsuit) | 11 comments Natasha: Really? I really hope so, because he doesn't look like "Will" to me.

message 32: by Natasha (new)

Natasha (tasha_13) Mahyar wrote: "Natasha: Really? I really hope so, because he doesn't look like "Will" to me."

Well at first he doesn't on the trailer, but when he's playing Volleyball - i don't know, he just looks like he does in my mind lol. If that makes sense?

message 33: by Blayke (new)

Blayke (b_loves_twilight) | 6 comments it is an awesome book(: yayyy i can't wait for the movie...miley and liam are perfect for their parts!

message 34: by Blayke (new)

Blayke (b_loves_twilight) | 6 comments oh and the song that miley choose to put in the movie is perfect...she didn't write it for the movie but she thought it would be a perfect fit and it is...when she first showed the trailer and played the song...i feel in love with it and have played it at least once a day sense then! beautiful song(:

message 35: by Madi_madutza (new)

Madi_madutza | 2 comments I absolutely adore this book.Of course, it made me cry but the end was perfect.
I think Miley and Liam will interpret a good Ronnie and Will. And I agree with Blayke, the song When I look at You by Miley Cyrus fits the last scenes with Ronnie and her dad.

Heyy what's the song actually called?

message 37: by Tina (new)

Tina (hauntedbookishsoul) I'm currently reading The Last Song, I hope the movie comes out decent. I plan on seeing it only because of Nicholas Sparks I can certainly do without Miley.

message 38: by Alex (new)

Ok, so I just watched the trailer for The Last Song.
My birthday was on Tuesday so I got the book and cant wait to start it. I went on Nicholas Sparks's website and he said that it relates to A Walk to Remember, but in what way(s)? If you can give me some insite on how their similar will ya, PLEASE! I'm not a big fan of Miley Cyrus's music, but I think she is a very good Ronnie, plus she helped Nicholas pick out the storyline and her characters name...got to give her some credit.lol
So if you can please help that would be great!

Ashley (bookworm84) (bookworm84) I am just finishing this book and I find it heartbreaking!!!! It's a great book but my advice to anyone just starting this one is to have a big box of kleenex with you!!!

I can't wait to see the movie. The Last Song is easily one of my favourite books from Sparks!

message 43: by Kristina (new)

Kristina Piazza (cullenmama) This was one of my favorite Sparks novels. I am a little worried about the movie. Cyrus is a southern girl in real life and she is not ashamed of it al all, so i am going to find it hard to watch her play Ronnie. Also Sparks wrote the screen play for the movie before the novel so i am sure there is going to be tons of differences, some good some bad.

message 44: by Yellow (new)

Yellow | 1 comments hello! You can really see Miley in this novel the way Nicholas describe her character was really strong. I dont know if its good thing or not...lol. Anyway it is great novel, Nicholas didnt fail to make me cry again. Oh God I love reading his novels then i suddenly felt like crying how great it was. keep it up! :)

I think the only reason they relate is because the main characters are the same age(18 yrs old), and that one of the main characters had a falling out with their father(Ronnie with her dad, and Landon with his) in A Walk to Remember .
I just finished The Last Song yesterday, and sadly,it didn't live up to the story I was hoping for. I listened to the book,a first for me for a Nicholas Sparks book, and I think that might have had an affect on me. I thought Ronnie was quite annoying(that's probably why Miley would be good for the part), and I didn't get really connected to the characters.I love Nicholas Sparks and admire his writing, but I unfortunately felt let down. Maybe the movie will be better?

message 47: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 3 comments Such a sad book. :( so good though

message 48: by Shannon (new)

Shannon Callahan | 4 comments I just finished the book last night. I loved it! Ronnie was a tad bit annoying, but she is a teenager, so that's normal behavior. I cried during quite a few of the last chapters. Probably due to the fact that I too lost my dad to cancer and was also present when he passed. I was relieved that Nicholas Sparks had a happier ending to Ronnie and Will. At least I ended my reading experience with a smile on my face.

I totally agree about KIm. Considering the affair an Steve leaving was what made Ronnie not speak to her dad all that time. Had Kim fessed up years ago, the "not speaking" for 3 years may not have happened. She definitely needed to apologize to her children for that! i also think Ronnie needed the alone time with her father even if it was hard. Jonah on the other hand was young, and I think he needed to remember his dad as mainly fun and vibrant. I am looking forward to the movie and will bring my tissues. :)

message 50: by Shannon (new)

Shannon Callahan | 4 comments You got that right. I was a mess reading the book. I'll be even worse watching the movie. HA!
