I just created an AUTHOR CHALLENGE for Toni Morrison.

I can create other Author Challenges as well. Post on this thread about which ones you want, and I will set them up.

These challenges will be open ended (as much as they can be), so you can add books you've read in the past too.

Just 2 requirements!

1. Make sure that they are an author that writes within the following themes:

*African-American, African continent, African diaspora
*Classic, Historical fiction, non-fiction

2. Make sure they have at least 5 major works!

What about J. California Cooper?

Can do! I just 'found' her last year myself.

I think she has 12 major works. Correct me if I am wrong. I want to include them in her thread, so that people have a number to aim for.

Just looked up her bibliography and I counted 13???

Londa, you were right it is 12. One of the books is were she contributes.

No problem! I only listed most popular 10 on the thread (got lazy), but of course you can set your challenge to whatever number you like.

How about Caryl Phillips?

He writes historical fiction - most of his books were published in the late 1980s - early 2000s.
The ones I have read I really enjoyed but there are still quite of few of his that I have not read.

I'm currently in the process of tidying up our challenges so I will add some of the others when I have more time.

What about Steven Barnes? :) He writes different types of books but my favorite is his alternative history in Lions Blood & Zulu Heart. Lions Blood alone I deem a classic...
