Be | 20 comments What is your absolute favorite clean or rated PG Historical romance novel that you have ever read?

message 2: by Shannon Leigh (new)

Shannon Leigh (lifeinmybook) I really liked the Ruby Red trilogy! There is some swearing that is not very strong, but you should know it's there. The romance is only some passionate kissing, at most. Anyway, the books are about time travel & they go to several historical periods in time! It's very gripping & you will LOVE Gideon. :)

Abigail Bok (regency_reader) I’m a big fan of Georgette Heyer’s novels, and my favorite of those is The Unknown Ajax. A lot of people love The Grand Sophy and Venetia as well.

I loved this book so much. I read and re-read this book so many times just so that I could read all of my favorite parts. This book is totally clean and set in the 1800s time period. It has some humor, a great, cute story line, and the BEST characters. Read this book, because if you have not, you have never read a good historical romance book.

C. | 289 comments Oh that would have to be the Diamond Of The Rockies series by Kristen Heitzmann.I loved how the Italian lady Carina
DiGratia totally flustered the miner/cowboy Quillan with her hand gestures when she was excited or trying to explain something, plus her outbursts of Italian, and her cooking amazed him!

The first book is a Kindle Freebie right now~ The Rose Legacy (Diamond of the Rockies, #1) by Kristen Heitzmann

Sweet Boundless (The Diamond of the Rockies #2) by Kristen Heitzmann

The Tender Vine (The Diamond of the Rockies #3) by Kristen Heitzmann

The Scarlett Pimpernel - which was written a long time ago, but was written about an even earlier period, if that makes sense. Action, adventure, intrigue, and romance.

Lynne Stringer | 173 comments Yes, I love The Scarlet Pimpernel too.

Lynn Lovegreen (lynn_lovegreen) Does it count as a historical if it was written in that time period? If so, Persuasion by Jane Austen.
Persuasion by Jane Austen

Louise Sparrow (louisex) There's too many I can't really choose but I'll give you two...

Jane Austen's - Pride and Prejudice
Georgette Heyer's - Sylvester, or the Wicked Uncle

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Some others that I have enjoyed are Regency~ Lady Fiasco (Regency Trilogy, #1) by Kathleen Baldwin , Mistaken Kiss (Regency Trilogy, #2) by Kathleen Baldwin , Cut from the Same Cloth (Regency Trilogy, #3) by Kathleen Baldwin

Brighton Road by Susan Carroll

Mrs. Drew Plays Her Hand by Carla Kelly

two medieval ones~ The Highwayman of Tanglewood by Marcia Lynn McClure , A Crimson Frost by Marcia Lynn McClure

and though not historicals have you tried any Amish Romance? They are always clean. I live near the world's largest Amish Settlement in Ohio, and have visited Amish country several times.Since they are a religious sect, some of the books can be more 'preachy' than others, but I just overlook those parts. The first books of two very good series are~
A Gift of Grace (Kauffman Amish Bakery, #1) by Amy Clipston , and Plain Perfect (Daughters of the Promise, #1) by Beth Wiseman

Some great Amish mystery/suspense~ Missing (The Secrets of Crittenden County #1) by Shelley Shepard Gray [first book in a trilogy] and there are several books in Marta Perry's Plain Sight series- Murder in Plain Sight (Amish Suspense, #1) by Marta Perry

a similar group that broke away from the Amish over the practice of 'shunning'...the Mennonites are not as strict, and a very good trilogy featuring them starts with
Bygones (Sommerfield Trilogy, #1) by Kim Vogel Sawyer

Check out my group for many more titles by myself and others on our bookshelf, would love to have you join, as well! :] https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

Amy (I'd Rather Be Sleeping) (secondhanddragon) I think mine is probably
The Butler Who Laughed (Regency Romance) by Michelle Martin

There were a lot of right notes it hit for me: a house party, a non-ditzy h, a butler romance, and what I call 'verbal romance' where they know a lot about each other before they ever kiss. Also, it featured an arranged marriage when neither party wanted to marry and they didn't fall in love with each other. All in all, I thought the book was really great.

Be | 20 comments Thanks Amy ! I will definitely look into this book and other books by Michelle Martin I'm constantly searching for new authors .
