What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

What I remember is the girl lived with her mother isolated from the rest of the village because her mother had her out of wedlock. She was overweight and self-conscious about it. Her mother dies and the girl doesn't want the villagers to take her (I don't remember why). She somehow meets a lost blind boy and he needs her help getting home. I don't remember if she knows at first he's a prince. I think it is a magical curse that made him blind. During their journey she loses weight. At the end of the book the prince regains his sight and reveals to her that he loves her. I think there may have been an enchanted animal companion, maybe a pig or a cat? That turns into something else later, maybe a dragon or a man? That's all I remember.

Pretty sure that in Pigs Don't Fly the prince ends up with the girl he was betrothed to before he got lost. She's older..and not very nice but he stays with her anyway. The pig, however, is a different story. I won't spill the beans on that plot line :D
