As they walk down the road the house stared to have more and more space in between. Eventually she stopped at a White House. "This is the one." She said as she lead Armina up to the door. She let go of her hand and opened the door for her. "Sorry it might be a little messy." She said as she turned on the light.
Armina gazed up at the house in wonder. It was huge, and even more beautiful than she had imagined it. "It's amazing!" She said, in awe. She looked back at Lapis and chuckled. "I don't mind if it's a little messy. I've been sleeping in the woods for years. This looks really nice." She paused for a moment in the doorway before gingerly stepping into the house. She moved off to the side of the room, looking back to the door to watch Lapis walk in. "Thank you for letting me stay here with you." She smiled, looking around. "Everything here is just so... great."
"Thanks. But even if you have been living in the woods I wish this place was a bit cleaner. I should have called the maid this morning, but i had no idea you were coming." She said as she shut the door and locked it. "I'll show you around a bit if you want. Oh, and please take your shoes off." She said as she took hers off and placed them against the wall. There was a line of shoes against the wall some were clearly hers but a few there were obviously not her size and made for a man.
Armina looked at Lapis, slightly surprised. "You have a maid? That's so cool." She removed her shoes and placed them against the wall with the others. She felt a pang of sadness when she saw the other shoes and remembered what Lapis had said about her father, but tried not to show it. She definitely didn't think she should bring it up. She turned around and smiled softly at Lapis, responding, "That'd be great. I'd love a tour...Thank you."
"Ya her name is Linda. She's nice, sometimes when I wake up she helps me cook." She said heading down the main hallway. "This is the living room." She said as she enter the first room on the right. In the room was a couch an a couple of recliners facing a large tv. She walked through the living room and through another doorway. "And this is the kitchen." Everything in the kitchen looked new and state of the art. Leaving the kitchen and heading back into the hallway she pointed to a closed door. "That's one of the bathrooms. And this is the library." She entered medium sized room lined with book cases.
Armina remained quiet for most of the tour, awestruck at everything she saw. She smiled to herself. The house seemed even larger inside. The kitchen looked so shiny and new that she felt the urge to feel how smooth everything was. She did not do it though; she would have felt bad if she accidentally ruined something by touching it. She was slightly hesitant to enter the library because of what had happened in the public library, but she was astounded at the number of books Lapis had in her house. She was surprised that Lapis would even need to go to the library. She became worried again about what the Book of Darkness had done to Lapis, which the library had reminded her about. "Everything looks amazing. Your house is beautiful." She paused for a second, looking down to the floor before turning back to her and asking, "Are your arms still okay?"
"Thank you, daddy built and decorated this house." She said as she walked out of the library and headed for the stares at the end of the hall. "My arms are okay, they don't feel any better but it isn't worse ether." She said as she went up the stares. "Now you can pick witch room you want. The only ones you can't pick are the one at the end of the hall and the the second one on the left that's mine. Also all of the bedrooms have their own bathroom and closet, so you don't have to worry about that."
Armina smiled slightly as she followed Lapis up the stairs. At least her arms were okay for now, she would just have to keep an eye on them. She felt slightly bad that Lapis had brought up her father, even if she hadn't mentioned anything about it. When she got to the top of the stairs, she gazed down the hall at the different bedrooms. She looked into the one closest to Lapis's on the left, thinking it would be better to sleep in the room next to her. That way, she could listen out for her through the wall if she needed anything. They were all very nice, so it wasn't important which one she had, other than to check up on Lapis. She smiled, looking back. "I'll take this one. As long as it's okay with you."
"Ya that's fine. That ones nice it was painted a really pretty purple. I got to pick the color for all the bedrooms." She said as she went up to the door and opened it for her. "I'll show you my room next then you can take a shower while I make us something to eat. Oh I forgot, you'll need some clothes. One sec I'll go get you some." She said as she left the room and went into the one at the end if the hall. She came back out she shut the door behind her and walked back to Armina with a pair of pajamas and other things she would need. "These might be a bit to big but they'll work right?" She asked handing them over to her.

((Sorry I haven't been on, I've just been really busy for the past few days! I'm setting up/being a part of a haunted house today, so I won't be on until really late tonight. I barely have enough time to write this. I'm really sorry! I'll try to update more tomorrow. The link works and that room is really pretty! :3))
((I'm back! Sorry again!))Armina smiled as she opened the door for her. It looked really nice. She responded, "It's beautiful. Alright, sounds good...Thank you. For everything." She shyly looked down at the ground. She watched Lapis leave and enter the room at the end of the hall that she had assumed was probably her father's. Her eyes widened when Lapis came back. Were those her father's? She didn't want to ask, but she thought they must be. The maid didn't live with them, right? Man, she didn't deserve this. Any of this. She felt bad that Lapis was doing all of this just for her, especially letting her use her father's clothes. She felt like crying again, but she forced herself not to show it. She didn't know how to respond, but eventually said, "Y-Yeah, they'll work." She looked down at the ground again, quietly adding, "T-thank you." She took everything from her.
"No problem. I think the pajamas are going to be really big on you, I'm sorry I didn't have anything smaller. I want you to see my room now, then you can shower, and we'll eat after." She said smiling as she took Armina's hand and brought her over to her room. "My room's a lot bigger and I got to help decide what to put in it, it's awesome." She said as she opened the door. She went inside and let go of Armina's hand. "Isn't it pretty? I love the color green it's my favorite. Oh, before i go make anything to eat is there anything you can't or don't like to eat?"

((How was your Halloween? And welcome back))
((Thanks! It was pretty fun. I scared a ton of people. How was yours?)) Armina looked over at Lapis, with a small smile. "It's fine, don't worry about it. Sure. That sounds great." She couldn't help but smile as Lapis brought her to her room. As she opened the door, her eyes widened. She was speechless for a moment. "It's amazing." It took her a second to realize that Lapis asked her a question. She looked back at her. "Uh, I don't think so. I'll eat anything, really... Thanks for making me anything." She smiled.
((Pretty crappy I was and still am sick.))
"Okay. I'll go make us something to eat. You can meet me downstairs when your done." She said as she smiled at her and headed down stairs. She went into the kitchen and pulled out a pot and a step stool from one of the lower cabinets. She placed the step stool in front of the sink and filled the pot with water. Then turned on the stove next to her and placed the pot on top. Then she stepped off if the stool and went into collect all of the ingredients she would need to make Mac'n Cheese. She placed them besides the stove as she got back on the step stool. Then she pored the macaroni into the pot.

((I'm sorry to hear that. :( I hope you feel better!))Armina nodded. "Alright. Yell for me if you need anything." She listened to her getting everything started downstairs. She was a little wary about leaving her alone to cook, but she thought if she had offered to do it, she had done it before and she would be fine. She was still worried about others coming after them, so she tried to take a quick shower while making sure to wash out her wounds well to keep them from getting worse. When she finished, she re-wrapped her wounds and got dressed, drying her hair with a towel as she walked out into the hallway. "Lapis? Is everything alright?" She couldn't hear much when she was taking her shower, so she wanted to make sure nothing had happened.
"Ya everything's fine, I'm almost finished." She yelled up to her. Lapis was nearly done all she had to do was add the cheese sauce to the macaroni. She pored the sauce to the macaroni and then pulled out two boles from one of the upper cabinets. She filled the boles and took two spoons out of a drawer. Lapis brought the boles into the living room and placed them on the coffee table. "It's ready when you are." She yelled up to Armina.
Armina smiled. That was a relief. She yelled down, "Alright, I'll be down in a minute." She dried her hair as well as she could, draping the towel over her shoulders to make sure her hair didn't drip on anything. She looked into her room, admiring it for a moment before heading downstairs. It was nice to have someone who cared about her again. She just hoped Lapis would be okay, remembering the dark writing on her arms. She walked to the living room, smiling at the Mac'n Cheese. She hadn't had real food in a long time. She looked over at Lapis, still smiling. "Thank you." She softly chuckled to herself, starting to feel stupid for thanking her again. "I say that a lot, don't I?"
"Ya you sure do." She said smiling as she picked up one of the boles and stared eating. "There's more in the kitchen if you want some more." She said siting down in one of the recliners. "We can watch TV while we eat if you want." She rambled trying to take her mind off her arms witch had started to hurt. She felt a sort of stinging sensation where the writing was. Slowly it got worse and she gad to stop eating and place the bole back on the coffee table, hoping that maybe her arms wouldn't hurt as bad if she wasn't holding anything. "I'm not really hungry anymore."
Armina smiled. "Alright." She stopped herself from saying thank you again. "Whatever you want, I'm fine with." She wolfed down her Mac'n Cheese, quickly realizing she was starving after what had happened today. She looked over at Lapis, realizing that she didn't eat much. Armina thought she looked worried. She quickly became worried as well, putting down her bowl. Why wouldn't she be hungry? She hadn't seen her eat since she saw her at the library earlier. Something had to be wrong. "Are you okay? What's wrong?"
"I'm fine, there's nothing wrong." She said forcing a smile. ' I just have to pretend everything's fine and eventually she'll forget anything's wrong' she thought. "I guess I'm just not really hungry." She lied, she was practically starving but she didn't want to move her arms. "Maybe I'll have something later. You can turn on the TV and put on any channel you want. The remote is in the coffee table, close to you." She looked over at the TV as she waited for her to turn it on.
Armina gazed into her eyes intently, studying her face. She could tell something was wrong. She had to be lying, which made her more worried. Was it something to do with her arms? Was she hurt and she just didn't notice? Was it something to do with her dad? She was hiding something. She started, concerned, "Lapis..." She sighed, looking down for a second. What should she say? She looked Lapis in the eye. "I care about you, alright? Please tell me if something is bothering you." she pleaded. If she didn't tell her anything, she guessed she would ignore it for now, but she was getting worried. She waited for a moment to turn on the TV.
"I'm fine, really you don't have to worry." She watched the TV for a bit before getting up. "You can stay down here and watch TV I'm going to take a quick shower then I'll come back down." She said leaving the room before Armina could say anything. She ran up the stairs and into her room slamming the door behind her. The stinging hand become a burning sensation so she figured that a cold shower would help. She quickly got undressed and went into the shower and made sure the water was as cold as possible. She stayed in the water until her lips turned blue and she couldn't stand the cold any longer. The cold had taken the edge off but that was about it.
Armina couldn't even respond before Lapis left. She could hear her run up the stairs and slam a door. Something was definitely wrong. She quickly got up and turned off the TV. She quickly and quietly made her way upstairs, trying to figure out where she went. She saw her room closed and assumed she had probably gone in there. She stood in front of the door, debating if she should knock and try to talk to her. Clearly, she didn't want to tell her what was wrong. What could she do to make her talk? Not much. She lightly placed her ear on the door to see if she could hear anything. She could hear the water running for the shower, but that was it. At least that part was the truth. She removed her ear from the door and started pacing back and forth in the hallway. She hadn't said anything that had upset her, had she? She didn't think so. Something else was wrong, and Lapis didn't want to talk about it. She sat on the floor against the wall next to Lapis's room, burying her head into her crossed arms. She sighed to herself. All she could do was hope that Lapis would tell her what was wrong, or hope that it wasn't something really bad.
Lapis dried her hair with a towel before she put on her favorite pajamas, they were green with frogs on them and were a size or two larger then they should have been. She hadn't noticed before but as she got dressed she saw that the writing had turned from black to red. Even in her pajamas she shivered and her teeth chattered. Her skin was ice cold and slightly pail. Once she finished getting dressed she opened her door and was surprised to see Armina sitting outside her door. "Wh-what are you doing?"
Armina turned to look at her as she opened the door. She looked like she was cold, which bothered her. Just another thing that didn't seem right. She wasn't sure if she should try to get her to talk to her. It probably wouldn't do anything. She was still really worried about her, but there wasn't much she could do. She forced herself to smile, standing up and replying, "Just waiting for you. I got bored of watching TV, so I came up here. I like your pajamas." She had already asked her if something was wrong, so she didn't want to ask again. She was still worried, though, and she didn't like pretending nothing was wrong, especially since Lapis was the one with the problem.
"Oh, okay. And thanks." She forced another smile and reached for Armina hand but stopped before she touched her. 'If i touch her she'll notice' she thought as she dropped her hand and turned around an when back into her room. "Almost forgot him." She said picking kitty off the bed. She sat down on her bed and looked over to Armina. "You can come in and sit down with me." She said as she laid back on her bed.
She noticed Lapis reach for her hand and stop short. 'Oh, man,' she thought, 'something must really be wrong if she doesn't want to grab my hand.' She watched as Lapis went back into her room, glad to be invited to come in with her. She didn't want to leave her side. She responded, forcing a smile, "Okay. Thanks." She walked in and sat on the edge of the bed. She looked down at the ground, trying to figure out how to get her to talk to her. Maybe if she hurt herself and wouldn't let Lapis help her until she told her the problem, she would tell her what was wrong. Would she have medical supplies in her house? Probably. But did she really want to hurt herself? No. Would she do it for Lapis? Of course. She contemplated taking out her knife, but decided to wait to see if Lapis would mention anything first. It was always an option for later. She sighed, forcing herself to smile at Lapis. "It's nice to just relax for a bit, isn't it?" She almost chuckled at the comedy of it. Relax? She was almost as stressed out as she was at the library.
Lapis shrugged, not looking at Armina. "I don't know. This isn't very relaxing." She sighed and turned on her side so her back was to Armina. "Maybe we should both just go to sleep." She suggested. She closed her eyes tightly as the pain started to come back, even worse than before. "Why don't you go to your room and get some sleep, we can talk in the morning. I'm tired." She said in a shaky voice. She sniffled as she tried to hold back tears.
Armina sighed slightly as Lapis turned away from her. There was no way she was going to sleep, not now. She knew something was wrong, and there was no way that she was leaving her side. She could hear Lapis's voice shake, and her sniffling. Oh no. Her eyes welled up with tears. She should have insisted. Something was really wrong. She couldn't take it anymore. She reached over and placed her hand on Lapis's shoulder, wincing slightly because she felt bad that she was so cold, and leaving her hand there to help warm her and show her she was there by her side. She pleaded, "Lapis...I don't like it when you keep things from me. Especially when they're important. I'm here for you." She looked down at her, quietly saying, "Please...tell me what's wrong. I know there's something wrong."
Lapis opened her eyes and sat up, still refusing to let herself cry. "I didn't want you to know, you seemed so happy, I didn't want to ruin that." She said as she rolled up her sleeve. "I feels like it's burning, it really hurts. I took a cold shower and it helped for a little bit but now it's back. I want it to stop but I don't know what to do." She said quietly as she looked at the floor. "I'm sorry for not telling you, are you mad now?" She asked glancing up at Armina for a second before looking back down at the ground.
Armina's eyes widened as she rolled up her sleeve. She should have known. How could she have been so stupid and not noticed? The writing was red now, which really worried her. It broke her heart that Lapis thought she would be mad at her. She sighed, looking at her with concern. How should she word this? "Lapis...I care about you way more than I care about being happy. I need to know if you are hurt." She smiled softly. "You being happy is what makes me happy." She paused for a moment. "I don't know what to do either, but we'll figure something out." She lifted Lapis's head up with her hand. "Of course I'm not mad at you. I'll never get mad at you. I...just need to know if you are in pain. I care about you too much to see you like this and not do anything about it."
"Okay. Maybe we can look up something to help, online or maybe in one of the books downstairs." She suggested, pulling her sleeve back down over her arms. "There are books on magic downstairs. If you find them you can bring them up and we can read through them. But I'm staying here. I want to stay up here and sleep. I'm really tired." She said getting up an taking the covers and moving them over so she could get under them. "Or we can look at them later, but ether way I need to sleep."
Armina hesitated. She didn't really want to leave Lapis alone like this, but she knew she had to do something. Did she really have a choice? Sitting there with her wasn't going to help her. She sighed, standing up and starting to walk to the door. "Okay. I'll go get them now. You can sleep, just yell if you need me... For real this time. No lies. I need to know if something happens." She took one last look into the room, at Lapis, before heading into the hall. She quickly walked down the stairs, eager to make it back to her as soon as possible. She walked into the library, scanning the shelves for books that may have seemed helpful. She saw a book about Latin, grabbing it in case that was really the language on Lapis's arms. She grabbed a few other books about magic and dark magic before heading upstairs once more. As she was heading up the stairs, she called up to Lapis, "Are you still alright up there?"
"Ya, everything's fine." She yelled back. She tuned on her side so she was facing the door and pulled kitty under the covers, holding him close to her chest. She pulled the covers up as far as they would go and close her eyes trying to relax. It was kind of hard to sleep when you arms felt like they were on fire though. She sighed and opened her eyes, there was no way she was getting any sleep tonight, even though she was so tired.
Armina walked up the stairs and into Lapis's room, smiling a little seeing her wrapped up in her blankets. She would have felt weird sitting on the end of her bed when Lapis had said she wanted to sleep, so she sat on the floor and placed the stack of books next to her. She looked through the stack of books and pulled out the one that looked like it might be the most helpful to start with. She looked up at Lapis. "I'm going to read a bit tonight before we go to bed. You should really try to get some sleep if you can. I know you had a rough day." She smiled softly. She knew she wouldn't get any sleep tonight, she would be too busy reading through the books to try to find out an answer. She was really worried about her, and had no idea what to do. She just hoped that Lapis would fall asleep soon so she wouldn't notice her staying up all night. "If you want to, though, you can read a bit first." She paused for a moment. "Do they still hurt? You said it felt like it was burning, right? Do you think ice packs might help?" She assumed that she probably had something that could be used as an ice pack in her house.
Lapis nodded, "The cold didn't help much before, it only took the edge off." She thought for a moment before speaking. "I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight, I can't relax enough. I can't get my mind off of how bad my arms feel. Since I can't sleep do you want me to help you read through the books?" She asked as she sat up but didn't get out of bed. "I can look over the simpler books."
Armina was afraid that Lapis wouldn't be able to sleep, she could tell that she really needed it. She sighed. She might as well have her help search through the books for information. She wasn't sure which books Lapis would be able to read, so she put all of the books, including the one she grabbed, onto the bed next to her. "Alright, you can help me read these books if you want. Here. I don't know which ones you can read, but these are the ones I grabbed. Any others you can think of that might be helpful?" She paused for a second before looking up at Lapis and continuing, "If you want to stop just let me know and I'll move everything out of your way." She looked down at the ground, quietly adding, "I'm sorry you were the one that got hurt. And, I'm sorry you can't sleep. We'll figure something out, though, don't worry." She had to figure something out, she just had to. It should have been her that got hurt, not Lapis. She felt like it was all her fault. Everything was. She would do anything to make sure Lapis ended up alright.
"I can read most of these and I can't think of any others you should get." She said as she picked up the smallest book. "I can read this one and that one." She said pointing to the second smallest book. "I can't understand the other ones." She moved back and leaned against the head bored. "I might need your help with some words." She said as she opened the book and began reading. The book she picked was about normal magical and how to control it, maybe there could be an answer in this book but probably not.
"Alright," Armina responded, removing the other books from the bed and placing them on the ground, "I'd be happy to help you out with any words you need me to." She looked at the titles of the remaining books, trying to decide which one to look through first. She eventually decided on one that seemed to be about different types of dark magic. She figured that it might be the most likely to have anything about the Book of Darkness in it. She looked in the back of the book for a glossary that might have listed the book and the page number, but did not see one. She sighed, beginning to look through the book from the beginning.
Lapis read through the book quickly and was half way done. She looked over at Armina to see how far she had gotten. "Anything useful in that one?" She asked flipping her book over to keep her page. "So far there isn't anything good in mine. It doesn't mention anything like this. It's strange, I thought that this would be in all of the magic books as, like a warning or something."
(( sorry it's short. )))
(( sorry it's short. )))
((It's fine. No worries.))Armina wanted to close her book in frustration, but thought better of it and placed it upside-down next to her to hold her page. She sighed, looking over at Lapis. "I had thought so, too, but I guess not. This one talked about the Book of Darkness a little, but it was pretty vague. It said to be careful handling it, but it didn't tell me why to be careful or what would happen if you weren't." Should they go back to the library to see if the book was still intact? Would something bad happen if they did? Probably. But, it was always an option for later, in case they didn't find anything. She stretched a bit, grabbing another book off of the stack, also about dark magic. "I guess we just have to keep looking...How are you holding up?"
"Well if it mentioned it then at least we know that we're close. The black magic books probably have more information on the book of darkness. The other books are useless." She said as she closed her book. She leaned over the side of the bed and placed her book on the floor next to the other ones. She picked up the book on latin. "I can't read this one but I'll look at the picture to see if the writing is the same." She said as she flipped through the book only stoping to look at photos of the writing. "I'm okay, it's not any better, but it hasn't got worse."
Armina nodded in response. "Alright, I'll start checking out this book," she added, showing her the book she had just picked up. At least Lapis's arms weren't any worse. Hopefully they would find something soon. She wasn't sure what would happen if they didn't find an answer soon. She opened up her book and started reading, scanning the pages for anything about the Book of Darkness. She flipped through pages for a while before her mind began to wander. What if she couldn't find anything? What would happen to Lapis? She told herself she had to snap out of it. She would find something. She had to. She finally found a section on the Book of Darkness and began reading through it.
As lapis looked through the book aimlessly for a while before she noticed a picture of words that looked similar to the ones on her arms. She placed the book on her lap and rolled up her sleeve. She placed her arms next to the picture and compared the two. "Hay, look at this. They aren't the exact same but it's pretty close." She said looking up from the book to Armina. "I guess it is latin. Dose that book or any other one say anything about latin or the book of darkness?"
Armina stopped her reading for a moment to look at the writing on Lapis's arms. It did look very similar. She responded, "I guess so." As she finished reading the paragraph she was on in her book, her eyes widened. "Y-yeah. It does. A lot more than the other book." She bit her lip, worried about telling Lapis the specifics, but then decided that she should. It did concern her the most. She sighed, trying to decide how to phrase what she had read. "It said that the Book of Darkness can choose to bond with someone that comes in contact with it. It etches a curse into their skin to display this bond, which also helps to strengthen the connection between it and its user, making all spells cast by them more powerful. If the chosen person becomes separated from the book for too long, they will feel increasing amounts of pain, until they either become reunited with the book..." Her voice trailed off. Or die. She refused to finish to sentence. She tried to change the subject slightly, adding, "It looks like the different curses and spells are usually written in Latin, so that must be why there is Latin etched into your arms." She looked at the floor for a second, slightly afraid to look Lapis in the eye, silently taking in what she had just read. "That's what I've read so far. There's a bit more that I haven't gotten to yet."
Lapis closed the book frowning at what she had just heard. "I don't understand why it would pick me, I can't even use magic. It doesn't make sense." She sighed, "If we don't get rid of the curse ether we go get the book or I die right? That's the part you left out right? I know enough about curses to figure out that part." She said picking up the latin book and placing it back in the pile. "Does it say anything on how to get rid or the curse or do we definitely have to go get the book. I doubt it really burned but there might be people there, if the library is open again then people definitely noticed the body's there."
Armina looked over to Lapis. "I have no idea. Maybe you can cast spells from that book or something now?" She sighed. There was no keeping anything from this girl. "Yes...I left that out. I- I didn't want to think about it." She could feel herself tearing up at the thought but forced herself not to cry in front of Lapis. She focused on continuing to read. She mumbled to herself, "There has to be something we can do to get rid of it." She eventually found a section with ways to break the curse, but there was only one way listed: death. Either of her, or someone else sacrificed by her. Her eyes widened. There had to be some other way. That book was filled with dark magic, right? Wouldn't it want people to get killed? She reached the end of the section with no luck, starting to panic a bit on the inside. "M-Maybe it's in one of the other books? It's probably pretty similar to breaking other evil curses." She knew going back to the library had to be a bad idea. Lapis was right, people would have noticed.
"Armina, it's okay. We'll figure something out. You need to calm down a bit. You're going to give yourself a panic attack." She said as she slid off the bed and sat down in front of Armina. She took the book out of her hands and put it down next to her. "Take a deep breath. We'll think of something eventually so you don't have to worry about anything. There are other books downstairs that we can look through too. But right now I think you need to rest, get some sleep. If you can't we can do something else to take your mind off of this." She said smiling at Armina.
