Courtney (semiautomatic) These books are a little middle-school, but they're still really good. The best part though, is you read them, get a taste of the amazing plots and characters, and then you move onto the Heroes of Olympus series, which is way more quality and definitely moving out of the middle-school zone.

Percy Jackson was the first fantasy chapter book I ever read (in 2nd Grade). I still love it!

Bella Alcott | 10 comments The first series is a little bit geared toward the younger ages of fantasy reading, but when I first read it, (in 2nd grade) it was a wonderful introduction into the fantasy world, where most of the books I read today are in. However, the Heroes of Olympus books are well suited for older readers and Rock Riordan's new series are also a chance for him to mature his writing, and cover topics that young people need to know and might not get to know in the outside world such as gender fluidity, homosexual relationships, and different religions around the world. It is truly amazing that he puts those types of stuff in, so that readers can understand that there are different types of people in this world, and that is completely normal.
