Juan Campbell's Dorm

Juan walked into the room and flopped on the bed purely by instinct. Then he remembered what he was there for and got up to close the blinds an curtains.
After he did that, he wandered back over to his bed and took out the DVD player underneath it.

Joss stood in the doorway, hesitant to come into the room. He's never been invited anywhere before, and didn't know how to act. He around his new friends room from the doorway. It was fairly organized. Hopefully his OCD wouldn't act up again while he was here.

"Aw, I wish I had a widescreen TV instead of thi thing." Juan mumbled to himself. It was kind of small. He began searching through the bag on his desk and took out a few movies. "Oh, I got Boogeyman! How about this? It seems a little more tame than Saw." Juan asked cheerfully.

Joss shrugged and took a small step into the room.
"I-I-um..." He said, hating himself for stuttering. He didn't know what any of those movies were about.

"Are you already intimidated?" Juan asked. "That's great! It'll be even more scary now." He didn't give any information about the film, he put the DVD into the DVD player and paused the film at the start. He shut the door behind Joss and looked at him for a moment.
"You okay with this? Remember, the Boogeyman won't jump out of the screen and eat you or anything."

Joss rolled his eyes. "I'm fine." He said. "Just start the movie." He smiled a little. Having a friend was nice. A new feeling.

Juan laughed and moved the pillows so that they leaned up against the wall. "Ooooooo!" Juan tried to imitate a ghost, but it was not a good imitation and not even remotely scary. He put on the movie and sat crosslegged on the bed, gesturing for Joss to come over.

Joss hesitated, but walked over to Juan. He sat on the bed next to Juan, but put space between each other. He stared straight ahead at the screen, but wasn't really paying attention to it.

Juan nearly fell off the bed at the jumpscare at the beginning of the movie. "I didn't remember that one being there." He said in a quiet voice. "Totally not forgiving that movie for this."

Joss looked at Juan then back to the movie and almost laughed when his friend almost fell off oof the bed. Had something happened?
Whoops. Maybe he should actually pay attention to the movie. That's what he was there for after all.

The movie was mostly about tension. There were scary scenes and jumpscares. Juan had predicted most of them. At the end, he clapped his hands and said cheerfully, "So, I think that's a good movie!"

"Yeah." Joss said absent mindedly. Truthfully, he hadn't payed much attention to the movie, to lost in thought. But, the small parts that he did see looked okay.

Juan fell quiet and stared at Joss, trying to read his thoughts. Juan's green eyes were still sparkling, but not exactly with excitement.
"You seem kind of indifferent from the beginning of the movie. I noticed it. What's distracting you so much?"

"Nothing." Joss said and shrugged. He looked at Juan.
"How old are you?" He asked curiously while changing the subject.

"Joss..." Juan began, then he sighed and shook his head, looking a bit frustrated. He didn't want to force Joss to tell him what was on his mind, IF he had anything on his mind that was. "Fourteen."

Joss nodded. "Cool. Me, too." He said. He didn't really want to answer Juan's questions right now. Then again, he didn't like to answer anyone's questions.
Joss wouldn't call himself a secretive person. Just...closed off.

(It's late. I'm gonna go sleep, mmk? I'll post tommorow in school :3)

"I guess so?" Juan nearly laughed. He didn't know what was so cool about being fourteen. Juan didn't want to be fourteen. He wanted to be older, like eighteen, so he could have a lot more freedom to do stuff.
"So, why are you here? In this school, I mean?" Juan asked.

Joss shrugged. "I guess like everyone else. I was sent here because I had powers." He said. It was true. Mostly. He just didn't say some of the parts.

"I was sent here 'cause my parents were mad at me for destroying things with my power. I guess I need to control my anger, too." Juan said, gazing over Joss's shoulder. Then he gasped at what he saw. "Joss!" He cried, pointing.

Joss tilted his head in confusion. "What?" He asked. He looked behind him, but saw nothing.

"Made you look!" Juan laughed childishly, his eyes sparkling with amusement. Then he closed his eyes and shook his head. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't be immature, but I can't help it."

Joss rolled his eyes then shrugged his shoulders.
"Don't worry. I don't really mind My sister is exactly like you."

Juan gazed at him quietly for one moment, then smiled. "Oh, okay. You seem kind of like the person who has dealt with a lot of problems...am I right?" He asked.

(Don't tell me you're bored already! I'm hoping to spark up some real stuff here.)

Joss raised an eyebrow at him. "What do you mean by that?" He asked. He kept his entire face blank, giving nothing away except for confusion.

"Well, you're a lot more quieter than other people...a lot more to yourself...I've had a friend like that. He's gone through a lot." Juan said. Though he seemed silly and cheerful, he was quite wary and thoughtful as well.

He was right. Joss was a very quiet person and didn't like to talk to many people. But who was his friend?
"Who was your friend?" Joss asked, voicing his thoughts.

"Oh, his name was Lucas, or Lucan, or something like that. I never got the opportunity to be proper friends with him because he moved away. He had to move from his parents to another family in America, but I'm not sure why." Juan thought back to that boy. He kind of missed him.

Joss stayed silent and looked away from Juan. Had to move away from his parents?
Joss could take a few guesses as to why.

Juan also fell silent. He never knew himself to get this quiet. He was thinking of his friend and felt a little guilty that he wasn' t there as much as he should have been.
Juan decided: he was going to be a lot more watchful and careful of his friends from now on.

"What do you want to do, now?" Joss asked and glanced at the watch on his wrist. The simulation room was still open. Maybe they could go there. Joss paused his thoughts for a moment. Why was he so willing to hang out with someone he just met a few hours ago? He shook his head. It was weird.

Juan was still deep in his thoughts. He snapped back reality after Joss asked a question. "Well, what do you want to do? There are plenty of things we can do here." Juan said with a somewhat reassuring smile.

"Do you want to go to the simulation room?" He asked. Joss has only been there a few times. It was pretty cool, but he would rather be in the library. He didn't really like using his powers, even if it was just for practice. But he had to learn to control his powers or someone could get hurt again.

"Yeah! Sure!" Juan said, cheerful once again. He was more than glad, since he was basically sent to the academy just to control his powers. With his friend, it would be a lot more fun. A lot more fun. (That's what she said.)

Joss nodded and stood from where he was sitting.
"Alright." He walked across the room to the wooden door and opened it. "Let's go." Joss didn't really expect Juan to accept his offer to go with him to the simulation room. No one ever has.
Maybe it's because you've never asked anyone, idiot. He thought to himself.

Juan followed Joss. (short post ftw)
