CHAPTER 5

From the moment I started reading the book, I figured that Lena would leave society, especially since she kept having nightmares about her mother's suicide. I think that the concept of liking a boy is so new to her, that she is mostly with Alex to experience the range of emotions that she would have lost having the procedure. It also seemed as if Alex was in the room specifically, since he later admits that he had watched her before. I imagine living in this society, that I would try to do anything to escape. Living without emotions would be terrible. I think of it as the point of life...to feel things and analyze experiences. This might as well have been a book about zombies because once the procedure was completed, that was essentially what the adults became. I honestly could not finish this book. I made it part way through and just got bored of the whole situation. I hope that others were more successful than I in completing the story.
