ALWAYS READING BOOK CLUB discussion

Once you are on chapter 2 please answer these questions:

What do you think of love being a disease?
Do you think it is a good idea?Why or why not?
Would you want the procedure done?
Would you want to marry someone you barely know and don't love?

So, I think that having love be a disease in a book is extremely irrational. It is a basic emotion that fuels the spirit of imagination and physical desire. I found it hard to believe that any of the people in the book could feel anything once the procedure was done....they were basically lobotomizing people. If you take out the core of a person's emotions, then they should feel nothing...so in retrospect to the marrying someone you barely know... it wouldn't matter because you couldn't feel anything anyway. It is mostly just pairing people off to procreate. A person would become an unfeeling baby creator. No wonder everyone was committing suicide and running away. It was an unrealistic concept and made me feel contempt toward almost all the people in the book.
