I have finally finished an owned book: Silk Parachute by John McPhee. He is a wonderful writer and I greatly enjoyed these essays.Unfortunately, while I have read one book, I have added several to my shelves since Jan 1. Sigh.
One down; 11 to go.
Have finally completed a second owned book, The Kitchen Boy: A Novel of the Last Tsar and only because I promised it to friend who will returning from the west coast this month. I am the type who needs a deadline! I need to pick up speed to reach 12 in 2016.The book is excellent, a different view to the Romanov's execution, with a twist at the end that I'm not sure I "approve" of. I haven't decided if that fictionalized it too much.
Two more read; many more added to my shelves. The Alienist: excellent view of NYC in the 1890's
Waiting for Aphrodite: Journeys into the Time Before Bones: loved this book and the authors connection with these over-looked creatures
Finished What If?: Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions, fun book but needs to be read slowly - too many questions at a time and they sound the same.
