Charlotte Jones (ramblingsofanelfpire) I was thinking, as I know a lot of people own or want to read a lot of John Green's books, whether anyone would be interested in doing a John Green readalong?
Maybe one of his books a month?
He has 5 novels all together and having read them all myself already I can assure you, they are quick reads. I'd just love to reread them and was wondering if anyone else would like to join me?

I don't know when to start this as there are quite a few readalongs going on in the group but I was thinking of maybe starting off with Looking for Alaska in July?
That way we would have read all of his books before the end of the year! Let me know what you think! =)

I own only Looking for Alaska. I want to read it sometime this year. July sounds good.

I would definitely be interested as I have all of his books. So far I've only read The Fault in Our Stars, I thoroughly enjoyed it although it was so sad :(
I think one of his books every month in chronological order would be ideal.

Charlotte Jones (ramblingsofanelfpire) Anyone wanting to read Looking for Alaska this month?
I will probably be rereading it anyway so it would be fun to discuss with other people =)

I will! It's been sitting on my bookcase for a while feeling neglected :(

Oh Char, you know I own this book, it survived my recent purge, but I'm throat deep in Dune right now and I'm struggling with it so I can't join you for LFA this month. I'm sorry because I was excited to do this readathon with you, hoping to work my way up to TFIOS because it's a very sensitive subject matter for me. I can always play catch up in August, though...right?

Sure! Catch up whenever you like =)

You're a dear! What will be the August pick?

message 9: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte Jones (ramblingsofanelfpire) It'll be:

July: Looking for Alaska
August: An Abundance of Katherines
September: Paper Towns
October: Will Grayson,Will Grayson
November: The Fault in Our Stars
December: Let It Snow

It's in order and obviously people can take part in whichever they want =)

Dune is atrociously too difficult a read for me. I've abandoned it, at least for now, and picked up Looking for Alaska, among other things. I'm a few pages in and I'm really enjoying the quirkiness of the characters. So much for not participating this month. I've already placed An Abundance of Katherines on hold at my library. Hopefully it will become available some time in August. I don't know that I will be reading Will Grayson, Will Grayson as I've not been impressed with David Levithan's collaboration work as of yet.

Yay for participating! I'll be reading Looking for Alaska during the booktubeathon next week =)

I don't hate you for not liking it...we're all entitled to our opinions! It's a little bit of a Marmite book I suppose, you either love it or hate it....personally I loved the book when I originally read it. I am interested to see how my opinion may have changed though =)

Thank you, sweet Charlotte, for understanding. I didn't hate it, that's for sure, but I didn't like it either...if that makes sense. I enjoyed it for what it was. But, like I stated in my review, I am going to read more Green. There are even books by author's like Stephen King or Nicholas Sparks that I like or don't like. I take it book by book, not as a representation of their writing as a whole. I'm not one to say, "Well, I disliked my first experience with that author and I hated the book so that must mean he/she is a bad writer and I won't be reading anything else by him/her." You know? I'm not like that. I look forward to next month's read.

Yeah I know what you mean. I like David Levithan's books but I never usually enjoy his co-authored books. I think you have to take each book as an individual experience =)
