Hi, I'm Lynda & I've been writing since 2009. I've just published my third book... it started out as a trilogy but it got way out of hand. I'm on Book Six now.Basically I'm fed up with 'heroes' who win by default. I wanted clever evil monsters and capable heroes who win because they are actually better at doing what they do than their enemies. Since I'm a witch my heroes are witches too. Since I love vampires I gave them a frenemy (one is never sure) who aids and abets and frankly gets on their nerves.
Lets hears the last about the girl who decides to explore the haunted house alone in the dark without a handy flamethrower. If you want to hear my list of Darwin Awards for the lassie least able to get out alive & yet does, despite the odds, ask me. Tell me yours. What upsets you? let's talk about it......
Welcome to the group Lynda! I have no idea how this was missed for almost three weeks and I just got the notification of it.
How did i miss this as well????? How? i tell you! HOW!! !!!!
Lynda, i have a love hate thing with witchy books.. Can you recommend any good witchy reads? i Have looked at yours( and added them on my TBR) but do you know any others?

Hello everyone! I have recently started reading massive amounts of UF and vampire books again, so I hope you'll help me find more to keep my hunger for good books satisfied.I love Neil Gaiman, Vampire Files by P. N. Elrod, Jim Butcher, Anne Rice, New Amsterdam series by Elizabeth Bear, Nathaniel Cade series, most things by Glen Duncan and many others. I also consider myself a werewolf kind of person, but because of both the Sturgeon's Law and the Theorem of Narrow Interests I read more about vampires than werewolves.
I'm a sloppy reader, tend to read last chapters of good books over and over in hope something more will magically appear. I hate avocado and coffee.
welcome susan,

Hi Justin! Welcome to the group! Adele is being modest, she is the glue! Jump right in, enjoy yourself, and any questions don't hesitate to ask any of us :)
Hi, my name is Lara. I am originally from Alabama, but moved to Scotland after marrying my pen pal that was from Scotland. We have been married for ten wonderful years. I have an adorable little son, who keeps me on my toes, as he runs around the house chasing bad guys and goblin kings! ;) I have always loved reading and writing since I was a child. I have just recently published my first book that is a series. I love all genre really, however, fantasy and supernatural has a special place in my heart. As odd as it is nowadays, I do not have ebooks or a kindle, as I love the feel of a traditional book. When I am not running around after my son or writing, I enjoy curling up on the couch with a good book that I can get lost in.
I am looking forward to the group, discussions, and the book suggestions! It is nice to be here and I look forward to getting to know you all. :)

Hello new people! Sorry I did not say hello earlier, but I was in NH trying to wrangle dozens of teenagers over the weekend. They are like herding cats!!! Anyways, WELCOME TO THE GROUP!
Welcome all. I don't know if I ever introduced myself as I like to just jump in and start talking... typing.
OK, Adele made me the challenge moderator after too many posts, though I fell down on the job this summer. We moved to a new house and went on two big vacations. So got great excuses but no more. I posted a Mini challenge for September.
So introductions... My genres of choice UF, PNR, Historical Rom, Scifi Rom/UF, erotica... I generally avoid YA and Contemporary romance, as I like to avoid reality and teen angst. Still I'll read them if they look like a good enough fantasy/premise. Also I'm trying to find books for my daughter, so...
UF and PNR brought back my love of reading, I probably read 15 books a year before discovering Nalini Singh, Kresley Cole, Patricia Briggs and Ilona Andrews. And before my audiobook craze, I probably got 120 books/year, mainly UF and PNR, now it is 200 or so. I listen in my car, while doing chores, etc.... anything that doesn't take my calculating mind, like speech. My kids and husband get irritated with my headsets.

Hi All,I'm Graeme Rodaughan from Melbourne, Australia.
I've had a life long love affair with reading, especially sci-fi, fantasy, & horror.
I love stories with suspense, thrills and action and I have a big thing for vampire stories.
I'm also an indie author.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone here on the threads.
yay! I'm from Melbourne too!!!! hope you fared well the wind "storm" the other day. I got a little bit if damage but there was no reason to bother the ses about it. thouse guys are busy enough! welcome to the group. and I hope to see you in discussions around the group. speaking of which.. I just realized I set up our Books of the month but didn't announce it... whoops my bad. I got some fixing to do.
Hello, my name is Nadine. I'm not sure how to say it well, so I just gonna say it. I'M ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED WITH VAMPIRES!! My dad told me when I was around 5 years old Bela Lugosi was my favorite actor. On Sesame Street The Count was always my favorite. However, I suck at math because it's almost like he mesmerized me, so I never learned anything. The original Lost Boys is one of my favorite movies and two of my favorite authors are Anne Rice and Lara Adrian. Respectively the writers of The Vampire Chronicles and The Midnight Breed Series. I even have a story in my head that I am wanting to write about Vampires which will probably be at least a trilogy once written....
Welcome Nadine. you are in the right place if you're love vampires that much. I'm a lover of all paranormal things myself... they are all so good I just can't choose!
first into to the paranormal was reruns of the munsters and Addams family tv shows from there it went to the original nosferatu movie and the other classic interview with the vampire... this was before I started reading the genre.
well since I started reading the genre nothing has been off limits.... I can't get enough of it... so I guess in a way I am obsessed as well! so you're definitely not alone!!!

Well I don't think I'm that obsessed with vampires but this is certainly the place to find more vampire books. I need a few novellas and the lastest novel to catch me up in the Breed of Lara Adrian. I liked the first generation a little bit more that the new one.
There are a lot of different types of series to try out, just let us know what you have read and what you have liked. here is a vampire favorites link that you could add to.

I also watched the original black and white versions of The Addams Family and The Munsters. I haven't had a chance to see Nosferatu yet, but I'm planning on getting the DVD on Netflix so I can watch it. My favorite Vampire movie would have to be The Lost Boys. I love Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles and I actually did start reading it before the first movie came out. The reason it's not my favorite is because I hate Tom Cruise, and in my personal opinion he isn't Lestat. I do kind of enjoy the cheesiness of the 1980's version of Fright Night. I have read Salem's Lot, but it's been awhile. I'm not sure if that's a movie, but I feel like it is. If it's a movie I want to see it. Hhmm, I know I am leaving soo much out, but there is so much to list...
Hi everyone, I'm Allan, I'm both a reader and an author. While I write Horror and Fantasy, when it comes to reading, I can't go past a good fantasy novel. At this point in time my favourite writer is Joe Abercrombie, but I'm branching out, trying to read more authors, because hey, you just never know what you might be missing out on. I've recently released a fantasy series with a celtic feel as I have Irish heritage and wanted to explore this a little in my writing. It has some mainstream and some lesser known creatures, and includes wiccan/pagan practices. I've just finished reading The Final Empire (Mistborn #1) by Brandon Sanderson and I've just started Mortal Engines by Philip Reeves as it has been on my TBR list for ages and I feel the need to mark this one off my list.
Hi, My name is Diana. I've been a fan of vampire books since I was a teenager but have expanded to shapeshifters, fae, demons, gargoyles, magic users and more. I read mainly PNR and UF books and the occasional steampunk novel. At present I follow a number of authors/series. First/foremost/favorite: JR Ward's BDB and BDB Legacy series. If anyone wants to discuss the Brothers and company I'm always ready! I also follow Darynda Jones, Larissa Ione, Kresley Cole, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Gena Showalter, Nalini Singh ( Psy/Changeling & Guild Hunter series - major favorites of mine), Lara Adrian, Alexandra Ivy, Laurell K. Hamilton, Karen Marie Moning, Patricia Briggs, Ilona Andrews, Anne Bishop, Cynthia Eden, Katie MacAlister and Kate Baxter. Yes, I read A LOT! I like strong female characters and sexy alpha-type males. I am looking for a place to discuss books/characters in an open-minded way which is respectful of the opinions of others and is first and foremost an exchange of information and ideas. I hope to find that here! Thanks for accepting me as a member.
Welcome to the club everyone.
@Diana
I like your list of favs. ;) I'll have to look at Kate Baxter again. Haven't read her yet.

Hello! My name is MacKenzie! Its hard to pick a favorite book, I have to many and the list seems to keep growing! The book that got me into reading when I was younger was Tithe; a modern faerie tale by Holly Black. I am a series girl! I read a lot, I am in college and I do work at hospital but I always find time to read my books to!
Welcome MacKenzie!
One of my favorite Historical Romance series (and books) is/are The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie, the MacKenzie series, from Jennifer Ashley, who writes a good PNR series, Shifter Unbound, starting with Pride Mates, and a really good UF under the name Allyson James, Stormwalker, Stormwalker series.

Hello everyone :) I'm Kayci and I'm an Urban Fantasy and Paranormal reader/writer/lover!
I have two little boys ( 3 yrs and 1 yr old) so my kindle is my little escape from the madness!!
I love Karen Marie Moning, Keri Aruthur, Kresley Cole, Kelley Armstrong... the list is endless!
Lovely to meet you all :)
Happy to see you here Kayci!!!I haven't been active in the group very long, still getting to know some ppl & damn I miss vampire books!!!
I'm not a fan of YA/NA so much but that doesn't mean I'm all about vampire romance either.
Happy to take recommendations & I just happened to stumble onto this FREE BOOK. It's usually $17.99. Why is it free? Who knows, but I thought who better to share my findings with?

There are some mixed reviews but just thought I'd pass it along. Trust me, I'm not promoting-I just like to share freebies. My friends will back me up on that.
Welcome back Sheri. Freebees are always good. I got that in 2013 so I think it is one of those first book in the series is free on Kindle. Looks like the series has grown so must be doing something right. I'm not much into the angst of YA/NA fantasy either though there are exceptions, like I loved the Harry Potter series. I also really like Chronicles of Nick by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Unluckily most I don't enjoy even if I think the story was good. I liked our BOM this month, Marked, in story but I won't continue as it just wasn't my thing.
Welcome to you KC. If you have favorites come and tell us which ones and maybe it'll introduce us to some thing new.

Hello Namita, hopefully you will get introduced to and be able to discuss some great UF/PNR here with us. We love it too.
Hey there! I'm Amelia, I'm from London (UK, not Ontario), and I used to be on the board of the British Fantasy Society. Now I sit around writing UF/PNR mashups. I'm currently reading Switchback: A Nightshades Novel as I really enjoyed Nightshades: A Paranormal Thriller :)

you could tell me your favourite book, or you could tell me about your occupation, family etc. so many choices! whatever you want really. if you still are not sure just say" Hi" or" Hello everyone my name is".... and you can start from there and we might ask you what we want to know!
if you are an author, let us know but please refrain from plugging/ promoting/mentioning your book. we have other areas in the group for that.
