Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments I decided to change it up since I keep changing my mind and I have a problem with getting books that are not on the list from the library and then reading them so I will just post them as I finish reading them.

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6) by Cassandra Clare 2/10

I had trouble reading this one but I finally managed to finish it, it was a very good ending but slow to start.

Owned: Kindle

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments Grey (Fifty Shades, #4) by E.L. James Great adaptation of the first Fifty Shades book, I loved reading things from the Male prospective for the series.

Borrowed: Kindle Library

I had a hard time finishing that book, when I finally did I didn't exactly regret it but it was hard to do.

Hannah H. (maron123) | 131 comments I will agree, it was a lot longer than I thought it would be, but overall I thought it was a good read!

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments Hannah wrote: "I will agree, it was a lot longer than I thought it would be, but overall I thought it was a good read!"

I was happy to finish it when I did, though I am always happy to get on to new reads no matter how good or bad I find the ones before them, I love reading though when I was younger I used to hate it.

message 10: by Hannah (new)

Hannah H. (maron123) | 131 comments I WAS THE SAME WAY! I hated reading when I was younger! My school forced us to do these things called AR points, where we had to take a reading test on every book we read. Also they assigned each student certain levels, so you couldn't read above or below your level. So i never particularly liked reading when I was younger, then when I got to middle school (AR points no longer necessary) and could read whatever I wanted, I fell in love with it.

my parents got me into a reading program when I was in the 1st or 2nd grade, I learned to read well and just fell in love with it, my school had reading levels when I was in Elementary school too, and then there was the one book I read that was outside my comfort zone, Life Expectancy by Dean Koontz, I'm not into horror books so I didn't like it when I had to read it for a book report.

message 12: by Hannah (new)

Hannah H. (maron123) | 131 comments Once I hit middle school I finally realized what i was missing out on and I haven't stopped reading since! What are some of your favorite books?

message 13: by Alicia (last edited Feb 15, 2016 05:04PM) (new)

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments the Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs. there are so many more that I wouldn't know where to begin but these books are one of my favorite reads from the last couple of years.

message 14: by Hannah (new)

Hannah H. (maron123) | 131 comments Hmm I will for sure have to check them out! I am always looking for something new to read!

message 15: by Alicia (new)

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments it's an awesome series, the author is a local to where my husband and I live, and she writes about the area we live in, it's really eerie when I'm reading her books and I can say I know where that is about a location she is describing.

message 16: by Hannah (new)

Hannah H. (maron123) | 131 comments That is so cool! I always love reading a book that is set in my home town! I am located in a small town in Alabama, so when I find a book that mentions where I am from its like finding a rare gem!

message 17: by Alicia (new)

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments yeah, my dad used to live in Alabama, I moved to a little town in Washington State when I met my husband 5 years ago. I don't know the area well but I can vaguely guess where places are when I read about them in her books.

message 18: by Alicia (new)

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments switching it up a little, reading The Martian By Andy Weir because I got it from my library so I`m going to read that real quick so I can return it and then I'm going to go back to Affliction By Laurell K. Hamilton.

message 19: by Hannah (new)

Hannah H. (maron123) | 131 comments That's so cool! I love living in Alabama its been truly amazing, and I hope you are enjoying living in Washington State! Also I haven't read the Martian but I have heard nothing but great reviews from the book!

message 20: by Alicia (new)

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments I watched the new movie that came out a while back and that is actually what inspired me to read the book, I was going to wait till I finished Affliction but The Martian became available sooner than expected.

message 21: by Hannah (new)

Hannah H. (maron123) | 131 comments Yeah I definitely want to read it and see the movie! I have heard they both are great!

message 22: by Alicia (new)

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments I am 12% of the way through according to my kindle the book has some funny tidbits in it that are not in the movie. usually I read the book before I watch the movie if I know there is a book but this time it was the other way around and I don't regret it.

message 23: by Hannah (new)

Hannah H. (maron123) | 131 comments Well I will definitely have to check it out soon! For some reason I have just been in the romance mood and have just been reading a ton of those books lately ha ha!

message 24: by Alicia (new)

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments me too, half the books on my tbr list are some sort of romance. but I would totally recommend The Martian, I'm 34% through it now and I'm enjoying it.

message 25: by Alicia (last edited Apr 04, 2016 07:27AM) (new)

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments The Martian by Andy Weir was a lot better than the movie, I enjoyed the extra information that the book provided over the movie, it was a great read and I'm not disappointed *****

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments Jason (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #23) by Laurell K. Hamilton was a good book, though it was rather different from what I am used to when it comes to Anita Blake books but I can't complain, the change was welcomed for a little bit. I can't wait till I finish the next book.

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments I have decided that audiobooks in my car is a bad idea so I won't be doing that anymore. I will be finishing Incarnate in Kindle form.

message 29: by Michael (new)

Michael | 7 comments I tried audiobooks in my car as well a couple of years ago and found that my mind is so distracted when I'm driving that I was missing most of the book and constantly rewinding lol. So it didn't take me long to figure out that audiobooks was not for me. I guess I just need a book or my Kindle and a quiet room to enjoy a story...

message 30: by Alicia (new)

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments I can enjoy it, the problem for me is that because I spend a lot of time driving my mother-in-law around she gets in my car when I'm listening to an audiobook and then wants to just sit in the car and listen to it forever and I can't handle that, it gets frustrating.

message 31: by Alicia (last edited Apr 04, 2016 07:28AM) (new)

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments The Master (Submissive, #8) by Tara Sue Me Another Masterfully written book by Tara Sue Me, I love her books and can't wait to read more, this one is about being hurt and healing when you aren't sure it's even possible.

Cassandra | 5832 comments Congratulations on being almost one quarter of the way through your goal!

message 33: by Alicia (new)

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments thanks Cassandra, I didn't think i would be this far already.

message 34: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 5832 comments What do you think has motivated you read more than you thought you would?

message 35: by Alicia (new)

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments a lot of them so far have been 200-300 pages so that is part of it and then there is the fact that every book on my list is part of one series or another that I have been reading since I lived with my mother, which means that I have been working on most of the series' for 6 years or more.

message 36: by Alicia (new)

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments Incarnate was not what I expected it to be, it really surprised me, it wasn't a bad book, just the opposite, I loved first listening to it and then reading it after I couldn't stand having to deal with some stuff that was happening because of the audiobook. anyhow I really liked this book and can't wait to get a chance to read the next book in the series.

message 37: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 5832 comments I have so many series that I want to try to get through! Incarnate sounds super interesting, so I added it to my to-read list.

message 38: by Alicia (last edited Apr 04, 2016 07:29AM) (new)

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments Incarnate (Newsoul, #1) by Jodi Meadows is worth the read, There are 3 other books in that series as well.

I'm actually really close to making it so I can read another series without remembering that I have so many books to read that I started years ago that it isn't funny, the ones on my list for this year are not all of them but I have to reread some of them to figure out where I am in each series. that is only 3 series' though so that's not too bad.

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments Since Naked Empire (Sword of Truth, #8) by Terry Goodkind was taking so long to get through ( and I forgot my Kindle at home Sunday morning and needed something to read) I took a small break from it and read Firefly Hollow (Firefly Hollow, #1) by T.L. Haddix I don't regret doing so one bit and as soon as I can find the other books I will be reading them as well.

Owned: Kindle (for both)

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments Finished The Last Christian by David Gregory I actually contemplated throwing it in the DNF pile several times because it was odd and a little frustrating but I'm glad I didn't, it was a really good book and I would totally recommend it to anyone who likes futuristic books based on what ifs.

Alicia (karalena) | 257 comments The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern Borrowed this book from the library at the suggestion of one of the people that work there, I was dubious at first when I read what the premise was but as I kept reading it kept my attention and ended up being not at all like I thought it was going to be and ended really well.
