Schools in the victorian age

Samantha | 16 comments It seems that in the victorian age the rules in the schools were very strict and that they were not particular about cleanliness.
Reading Jane Eyre I learnt that they use finger stocks like this
https://www.facebook.com/320312621452... (hope you can see the image) to prevent pupils from moving their fingers. When I read this it gives me goose pimples. I also learnt that only one mug was available in a table with four girls (but we are speaking of charity schools. In schools attended by upper class boys the conditions were certainly better.)
