Review Group discussion

This is a general group. In joining this group you have agreed TO REVIEW ANY ALLOCATED BOOK within the set 12 week limit.

There is no genre filtering.
If you are only willing to review your own preferred genres then sorry, but you’re better off finding a group that specialises in your preference, or joining one of the 18+ rounds or a ‘clean’ review round. In this general group you might be asked to review fiction/non-fiction, adults’/children’s books, a religious text, BDSM, or anything in between. Allocation is entirely random and there will NOT be any rearranging of the listing to accommodate genre preference. The ONLY circumstance in which you may duck out of giving a review is if YOU provide a stand-in reviewer.

Let’s be honest here – we don’t all like the same things but we all want reviews. The only way this group can function is if we trust each other to behave honourably. And it IS perfectly possible to give a fair-minded review of a text that does not coincide with our normal choice of reading matter. If you need a few hints/tips, please see this thread:

Do not sign up until you have completed all your reviews in another review round in the group.

Make sure you have an author profile set up before you join and that your book is available for sale on amazon (not pre-0rder).

Make sure your profile allows people to message you, i.e. your profile is not set to private.

Please let me know as you sign up if you have been reviewed by, or have reviewed another author in the group. It is permissible to review an author more than once if a different book is available, but reciprocal reviews within the group are strictly prohibited.

Noah, you asked about joining the horror group in your private, which is part of the '100 celebration'.
I allowed people to join up to more than one of those in order to get them filled.
These 'ordinary groups are in higher demand, so I am going to be enforcing the 'must have finished all other reviews' rule stated in the sign-up message.
However, if you want to sign up to the horror thread to get that off the ground, please do.
If not, let me know when you have finished your reviews for the scifi group.

Hello, I'd like to participate in this group. My book is Blithering Genius. I am not currently involved in another review cycle. I have participated in other review groups in the past where we reviewed books outside of our genre.

Was the 100 round special in that there is scifi, horror, etc or will there be more rounds broken down like this? I participated and have finished round 96 and would like to join another, I'm just not sure if this one would be appropriate, or if there is going to be more specific groups

There will be some more genre specific groups. They proved very popular, but I can't guarantee what rounds will be available or how frequently they will start as it will depend on the availability of mods.
It is likely they will mostly consist of fantasy, scifi, romance and thrillers/mystery type genres as these seemed to be the most popular in the group 100 rounds. We will still be having general and 18+ rounds as well.

Hi, Emma! I've just barely finished Group 100J Children/YA. Is it possible to join this one, with my first sparrow book? I've not read anything by Ubiquitous. (I agree! Interesting pen name!)

Sorry Emma, I think I started that trend! :( I just saw the original post saying the book needed to be available on Amazon, and I ended up including both links to the book to be safe. At the time, I was on my phone, and it wasn't letting me copy the web address for my author page either. Sorry it seems to have gotten everybody copying me, I never meant for that!

Please remember the commitment you are making to your fellow group members. If you pull out after the start date for any reason it is the other members who will be faced with the problem of finding a replacement, or missing out on reviews, through no fault of their own. Please don’t ask the moderators to chase after replacements as we just don’t have the time.

It is the responsibility of the author to get their book to their reviewer in a format the reviewer can manage. Everyone must be able to accept PDF. There are no set dates for the start of each round. You can each work at your own pace, within the limits of the round deadlines.

When you have posted your reviews, please post the three links to your reviews in this thread.

All reviews must be posted to GR, Amazon .com and Amazon.co.uk.

Postings to any other sites are by agreement by both author and reviewer.

If I’ve missed something that results in you being asked to review someone who has already reviewed you, please let me know asap.

To exchange book files, my advice is to use PM to give email addresses to each other (save the chance of spammers getting your addies from this open forum). Happy reviewing, everyone :)
