on the recommendation of a friend i just tried Wayward, Vol. 1: String Theory + vol. 2 (the series features a half-irish, half-japanese main character) and it was... okay? vol. 1 was v rushed and confusing imo but vol. 2 really picked up. i'm probs not gonna go out of my way to seek out vol. 3, but if i happen to come across it?? maybe???
I finished Juliet Takes a Breath and it was GREAT. Juliet is a sweetheart and her voice flows really well and is fantastic to read. The book packs a few hard punches and it's super delightful. Feels like a great indie movie about a great queer girl.
Just a really feel good book with important points to make.

i just finished We Too Sing America: South Asian, Arab, Muslim, and Sikh Immigrants Shape Our Multiracial Future, which was really great. i confess to not really being up to speed on post-9/11 islamophobia – i know it exists and i know it's horrible, but this book really does a great job of explaining the current climate while contextualizing it in broader american history/politics. a worthwhile read!!!!!
incidentally Juliet takes place like a few years after 9/11 (maybe one year?? idk). Definitely an interesting perspective.
