The book is in three parts. First part Karen, the girl friend, falls into a coma. The book starts out with Jared the ghost. The first chapter is written in first person and him telling us a few things. Then the second chapter it switches to Richard’s perspective and the first part of the book is told by him and his story about his girlfriend in a coma, pregnant, his life and the friends around him. The second section deals with the Karen waking up, and what I remember, it is told in third person about the people around her and of course her. Karen’s body is very weak and she has to learn about all the changes and her teenage daughter. In the third section Jared come back, still as a ghost. Everyone in the world is dying except the Karen and her group of friends.
Honestly I don’t know what to make of this book. It was a strange read. A bad book for me is one where I am on page 50 or 100 and don’t know what the heck is going on and where I tell myself life is to short I can’t read anymore. This didn’t happen here, but I’m still left wondering what as the reader should I have gotten out of it. Maybe some kind of “It’s a Wonderful Life” type ending, where we need other people around us no matter how crazy they may seem.

I think that in our discussions spoilers are okay. I figure that there are plenty reviews that don't have spoilers.
