Ben Coes' Dewey Andreas series is awesome. Currently, 5 books and they pick up after each one. Full of action and good storytelling.
Mark Greaney - the gray man and also the books of Dalton Fury. Ben Coes is really good by the way. Top suggestion!
Scott wrote: "Anything by Robert Crais. You'll burn through it because he writes clean, tight prose, so take two."I agree. Crais is a great read.

If you like police procedurals like Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch, you should enjoy John Sandford's Lucas Davenport. Currently, 26 books. Nice long series to sink your teeth into.
Cussler's earlier books would be & are pretty good. His later books went down hill from what I've heard & my limited experience. Huge plot holes.

Brad Taylor's Pike Logan is another series (9 books currently) that I enjoy though I listen to them, not read. Great audios for a long trip as you can just close your eyes and relax!

I recently tore through "the Last Detective" and loved it
I will read some more Crais while on holidays....what are his best works please?

Do I need to read these in order?

Yes, the Pike Logan books are best read in order because Jennifer, Pike's love interest and Taskforce member is introduced early in the series. It will show how she becomes a respected member of the Taskforce. The first installment covers Pike's background and the formation of the Taskforce.
Each action thread is closed by the end of the book so no cliffhangers that I can recall, but I could be wrong.
Ill look into it, I read another Hurwitz book I didn't really enjoyIm also going to try Victor the Assassin series by Tom Wood
anyone read those ones?
Victor the Assassin is great, one of my favorites. I love Crais, Sanford, Silva, PIke Logan, and V the A fits right in there.

I like Victor. I listen to the audiobooks, though, and love Rob Shapiro's narration of the series!
If you like Victor you might also like David Stone's Micah Dalton series and Bratt Battles' Jonathan Quinn. Both of those series have audiobook version and Jonathan Quinn is really great in Scott Brick's narration.

Going to taking a long haul flight in a few months and wanted to get some suggestions for a book(s) that will be suitable for hours of reading due to suspense/excitement/adventure etc.
Some authors that I like include:
Clive Cussler
James Rollins (the judas strain is a high contender already)
Lee Child (Make Me is also a high contender)
David Baldacci
Michael Connelly
Im not keen on reading any more Matthew Reilly so please dont suggest that
Looking forward to your suggestions,
Cheers!
