Zerai Thel Tanis relaxed on a giant gray stone, reclining peacefully. The ruin floated in the air, surrounded by other swirling items, much like a miniature galaxy that literally revolved around her. She was reading a book. To be honest, she could have retired thousands of years ago. She just didn't want to, but she didn't face the brunt of the battle much anymore.
Fathamore the great God of fire, landed nearby with a calm peaceful expression that hadn't graced the firebird in quite sometime, but it was was peaceful here and it was one of the few places where he could come and think quietly. And he had a lot to think about, because while he knew what he had to do. Even he had to admit the was afraid to do it.
"Hey, Fatha," she said, eyes closed as the rock she reclined on spun lazily in the air. She held the book up, but had long since stopped reading. She had no clue about any of his plans... she just thought he'd come back to relax in his own place.
"Greeting Zerai," Fathamore said in the deep voice that he always used when talking to one of his children. For the great bird loved all of his children, and knew them all by name. However he would be lying if he said that he didn't have a particularly strong connection to the ones he blessed personally back when the world was shattered. He had known the the longest and through his blessing he knew their hearts. So being in Zerai presence brought him the joy that one feel when being in the presence of an old friend.
She smiled over at him and glanced at his wings. "It's good to see you," Zerai said, shifting her position and lowering her little galaxy gently to the ground. "How are you? I have't spoken with you in what feels like an eon," she pointed out, walking close.
"It's good to see you two my daughter, and yes it's truly felt like forever sense we last spoke," Fathanore said warmly. "As for me, I'm doing well all things considering though I fear for you and the rest of my children every single day as the darkness slowly creeps across the worlds."
"What do you speak of, this darkness and fear? Don't worry yourself too much. All things fade, my friend." She rested her hand on his side.
"The attacks on other worlds by shades, dark gods and conquering races that have been taking place recently," He answered. "And yes, I know that thing like this have happened before and have faded with time. However the lives of mortals are a fragile thing and the last time I've seen so many of Tnederis's forces was during the war the shattered the one world."
"I'll fight for you then, any day," she explained, sitting up straight. "I'll come with you to the end of the earth. Let me help... You don't need to let the darkness consume you completely.
"Thank you my daughter, but while the order can keep the shades at bay. It will be up to me and the other gods to win the war," Fathamore said as he looked into a pool and saw two Koi Sharks chasing each other, one black, one white. "Zerai what do you know about the true nature of this temple?"
"For convenience's sake, let's say absolutely nothing. I drew a lot in history class," she smirked, staring down at the fish. She didn't see sharks as he did.
"Well if that were the case, then this temple wouldn't have been built long ago back when the world was one. In honor of my father, the firefly," Fathamore said as he watched the black shark take a bite out of the white one.
"Your father?" she asked, looking up at him, then down at the fish. "Isn't that... I mean, if one dies, won't the other, only a little later?" She liked the white fish. She didn't want it to die.
"Yes, he was the grand lord of the song of creation himself and was the singer of the first song of creation. Which brought the gods and the first world into existence. However, like those two Koi sharks down there, he had an opposite that he had to fight in order to keep the world in balance. You know his opposite as the spider god Tnederis,' he said as he watched the white shark retaliate and take a bite out of the black.
She sighed and kept walking. "I understand. The moral is balance, but... what's the story?" she asked. She was friendly... but not exactly the most patient. Even if this was Fatha. "Sorry," she said, quickly.
"It's alright my daughter though after living you living for thousands of years under my care, you'd think you would've learned patience," Fathamore laughed warmly. "Anyway as you know Tenderis sought dominion over creation, to start it over in his image alone. However before he could do that he had to separate himself from the endless dance he performed with my father, so he sank his fangs into him and took off. Starting the great shattering. As the world literally feel apart, my father fused with me giving me his power to me in a final attempt to win the war. As you can see it was successful, but it can at a cost."
She chuckled dryly as well. "Well, some things never change," she volunteered, rather shy. "Your... Father was weaker than the darkness?" she hesitated, gaining uncertainty, doubt. "Couldn't he have bitten back? Returned the attack strike for strike?" Zerai took a deep breath. "What cost?"
"He could've and did fight back, and was by no means weaker than Tenderis. However, a combination of surprise and the fact that Tenderis had fused with some other gods to bust his power lead to my father's downfall. Anyhow the cost was is that we Tenderis's opposite and the only on who could keep him at bay. Now he lies dormant within me, but if we're going to win this we need his power," Fathamore explained.
"You can awaken your father then and defeat Tenderis and the darkness -what cost comes alongside that?" She rested her hand against his side, frowning. he seemed really stressed and sad.
She frowned. "Fatha, you can't... You can't do such a thing. Without you... where would the light be? What would the world be without you?"
"Right now my soul and my father's are fused as one and nether can separate from the other while they remain in this body. So if it what needs to be done to keep Tenderis at bay and my children safe then I'll do it ," Fathamore said though his eyes dud show that he was afraid to die. "Have faith my little one, for I am a Phoenix and what are my kind know for doing?"
"Rising again," she said, "But... I don't know that it will be the same. You're my friend. I don't want you to go. There must be another way, my friend." She rubbed at her forehead. "Rest... just a little. Think. There must be an alternative!"
"My sweet daughter, I have been thinking about this sense the end of the last war and I know that there's no other way. I have to do this, for you and for all the other children. But do not fear for my passing will be but for a small moment and even then. I shall always be with you, even in your darkest hour and even if you can't see me. I am there," Fathamore said with a warm gentle voice as he draped his neck over the distraught child.
((Okay anyone reading this who isn't crying right now needs to get their eyes checked.))
((Okay anyone reading this who isn't crying right now needs to get their eyes checked.))
((My eyes have been checked. I need glasses and some emotion transplants, apparently.))The girl wrapped her arms around the Phoenix and she held him close, burying her face into his feathery scales. After a moment, she kissed his gigantic cheek. "I'll go with you, then, as far as you will let me, and further then, if you need."
((Haha LOLO XD))
"Thank you, I'm sure I'll be glad for the company when the time comes," The great firebird said with relief as he returned the embrace.
"Thank you, I'm sure I'll be glad for the company when the time comes," The great firebird said with relief as he returned the embrace.
She smiled gingerly and hugged him tight. "I thank you, Fatha, for all you have done and continue to do." Tears stabbed at her eyes.
"I am your God and your and your father, and you are my daughter. My love love for you know no bounds and I would lay my life down before Tenderis even if it was just you I was saving," Fathamore said as that had always been his work and glory, to love and to cherished those who literally in the ancient language called him father.
She'd never seen him as a god, neither as a father. More as a leader, as a friend even. Considering the one who stood beside her as an almighty god seemed laughable. He was too... too earthly for that. Too invested. Not quite holy enough. He seemed human. She nodded. "Ha... Wouldn't it be better, than, if you were to live and we to die?"
"My child, I am a God of light and if there's one thing that we gods all share it's that we care for our creations in one form or another. On my end, I look upon each one of my worshippers and the people that populate the world's as if they were my children. And I find the greatest joy in knowing each of them by name as I watch them go through there lives, always giving aid along the way. My dear a life without that would be sad existence for me," Fathamore said.
"Is it better than no existence at all?" she asked, frowning ad looking up at him. She wiped at her eyes and swung up into the air, sitting lightly on a ledge, so she was actually level with him, so he didn't need to stoop to speak with her. "When are you going to...?"
"For a mortal maybe, but for me no," Fathamore said gently nuzzling the young child like and eagle would it's hatchling. "As for my time don't worry. The scouts have checked the outer reaches and have told me that Tenderis isn't due for about twenty years. A long time for a mortal, but a blink of an eye for immortal gods."
She smiled gently. "A blink for me as well, it would seem." She may have appeared a child, but she was far from it. She shifted into her dragon form: a large, scarred over dragon. She stretched out feeble wings and wrapped them around Fathamore, pulling him close in a warm embrace, like she just wanted to hold him and make sure all the darkness was gone, just for now.
"Thank you," Fathamore said with a sigh as he allowed his mind to be cleared if only for this small moment.
"Ironic choice of words for some you know is going to die," Fathamore said with a slight chuckle.
"And for that I thank, it bring joy to my soul to know that I have children such as you willing to stand with me," he said with his best attempt at a smile.
She held him close, then released him, turning back into the mask that was her youthful, human form. "Thank you. I don't know what to say."
"Then don't speak and let your heart speak for you through your eyes," Fathamore replied in a warm comforting voice.
"That you don't but everyone cries even gods, in fact many gods I know spend a good deal of time crying as we we feel al, the pain and suffering of our followers as if it is our own," Fathamore said as he draped this wing over the girl.
