What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

hello. i am looking for a book i read for 15-20 years ago. but i dont remember much about it. i read it before i started to read the goosebumps serie, so i think the one i am looking for are for younger people.

the things i remember are.
the plot: it is about two boys (i think) where one of them have seen a green light in a abandoded house. maybe on the attic. and they want to find out what it is.
the light is coming from a ghost. i remember it as a green ghost dog/cat.

On the cover i remember the green cat/dog and it's almost glowing.

thats all i remember. so it is not much.

maybe its not a ghost but a monster.. but i remember its as a ghost.

i hope someone know what the book is called.

Mystery of the Green Cat but look at all the different covers. The one I had was the one with the glowing green light coming from behind the mansion. It is an older book, but kept appearing in book fairs for a long time.
