Hi guys, lets get to know each other.
My name is Paula, I live in England. I've been a reader all my life and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I have a booktube channel (Fandom andBooks). I love finding new or old books and authors. I enjoy interacting with people and making friends.

AJ (ayjayuk) | 4 comments Hello all. My name is AJ I'm an American living in the UK. I've always liked to read and recently all I want to do is listen to audiobooks while doing other things. I don't really have a favourite genre I'll read just about anything and usually have something good to say about it. Recommendations are always appreciated. :)

Hi guys! I'm Cristi and I'm in the US. Like Paula, I've always loved to read and always will. I normally have four books going at a time, an audiobook that I listen to in the car with my daughters, an audiobook I listen to on my own, a middle grade book that I read to my girls each night, and my own personal book. Though, it seems like no matter how much I get read, my TBR never seems to get any shorter! I blame Goodreads and Booktube.
And, speaking of Booktube, I have a channel (What Cristi's Reading) that I started so that I would have people that I could chat with about books. This group is adding more great readers that I can chat with! Woohoo!

Hey, AJ, I would recommend any Neil Gaiman book, especially the ones he narrates himself. They make for great audiobook listening. :o)

*laugh* Oh yes! He is my favourite author. I think I've already listened to all of the books he's read. Audiobooks read by the author are the best.

Kelly (wond3rlandbooks) Hey guys my name is Kelly I'm from Ireland. I have been reading since I was a young girl my favourite genres are Fantasy. I have a booktube channel (Wonderlandbooks)

message 7: by Robin (new)

Robin Hello everyone! I live about one hour north of Tulsa, Oklahoma by a little town called Wann, (pronounced Juan). I love to read! I love to listen to audiobooks too! I have a 30 minute drive to work, and will listen to books while I run or walk my dog. I love to read and will try reading anything!

message 8: by Corinne (new)

Corinne Scanlon Hello everybody! My name is Corinne, I'm American and I live in Upstate New York. I love reading and collecting books and I've recently gotten into audiobooks. I'm 16 and I spend most of the money I make from babysitting on new books

So apparently I'm a little late with the introductions. But better late than never!

Hello everybody! My name is Brandee and I am from the magical land of Canada! I absolutely love books and reading and, for the most part, I think they love me too. But we also have kind of a rocky relationship. We have our ups and our downs but, in the end, reading is always one of my highest priorities and greatest joys.

I love discovering new books and genres and talking to people about the books I am reading. I also have a BookTube channel (I Ramble Randomly) and am always excited to meet other book enthusiasts.

I can't wait to read with you guys!

message 10: by Corinne (new)

Corinne Scanlon When will we begin reading something and what will we read first?

Hey AJ, I've recently re-fell in love with The Contours of the Heart series. I'm not usually a lover of contemporaries, but this series is awesome. xxx

HI Robin, I love audiobooks too. Don't you find it frustrating when an audiobook is to slow, so you change the speed then all the words run together. Finding a happy medium is like trying to get the right shower temperature. :D xxx

Hi Corinne, being a book lover/collector is very expensive. But then again most hobbies are. How are you finding listening to audiobooks? xxx

Hi, we're reading Room by Emma Donoghue this month. You can start whenever your ready. Brandee has already finished the book, while Cristi and myself have only just started. We'll be having a live show towards the end of the month so we can all get online and discuss the book. xxx

message 16: by Corinne (new)

Corinne Scanlon Awesome! And I'm really enjoying audiobooks!

message 17: by Emily (new)

Emily | 3 comments Hi guys! Sorry I'm late to the party. I'm Emily. I just got into reading about 5 years ago and have become absolutely obsessed with reading and collecting books. I started a booktube channel last year under my own name ( Emily Boone ) and love the community! I've been trying to find a good book club for a while now and am so excited to be apart of this one!

Paula,
I just started listening to Magnus Chase by Rick Riordan. I had read a review where the person complained about the slow reading. I turned it up to 1.25, and it is perfect! I do know what you mean though, sometimes it doesn't work to speed it up!

message 19: by Christine (new)

Christine (KizzieReads) (kizzie48) I could have sworn that I posted in here, but I guess not, so I will now. :) I am Christine, I live in Canada and I have a booktube channel (Kizzie Reads). I am happily married with 2 kids. I read anything and everything, from middle grade and up. :D

Hi Emily, BookTube is amazing! I've met so many great people and become close friends with a few :)
I hope we can live up to your expectations of a good book club, we are all new at this and any suggestions would be helpful. xxx

Hi Christine,
High five for the marriage and kiddies, I'm engaged and staying that way till we can afford a wedding. (Why are they so expensive?!?)
I enjoy reading middle grade too, but it seems to get looked over on BookTube quite a lot. But i'll read anything that peaks my interest really :) xxx

Robin, I love Rick Riordan! I'm super excited for Magnus Chase and the Hammer of Thor! I've preordered & can't wait to get my hands on it.
I pretty much always listen to audiobooks at 1.5 or 2.0. Just because some people really drag out their words and it's really hard to listen to.

message 23: by Robin (new)

Robin Paula, I am so glad I'm not the only one! I never do that with Pride and Prejudice though! That one I listen to every few months! Love it!

Me either, I love the language of Pride and Prejudice to much to speed it up. Wow listening to it every few months, thats a lot. but I understand why, It's amazing :D xxx

Corinne Scanlon I've never read Pride and Prejudice but want to, should I read the hard copy first or should I listen to the audiobook?

Corinne wrote: "I've never read Pride and Prejudice but want to, should I read the hard copy first or should I listen to the audiobook?"

It's totally your choice hun.
I first watched the BBC mini series (the one with Colin Firth) first. Then I read it then listened to it.
But I honestly can't say which is better because they're all amazing. I'd say just pick one and go with it, and if you feel it isn't working for you switch.
The latest audible version is one of the best I've found audiobook wise.
Sorry I can't be better help. xxx

If you want to listen to it for free LibriVox has some really good readings of it. They have many options but the solo readers tend to be best and Elizabeth Klett is a fantastic narrator.

Debbie (debbieslibrary) Hello everyone!

My name is Debbie and I live in the Netherlands, I'm 21 years old and in college to become a nurse, I'm in my last year. I have a blog on Wordpress called Debbie's Library. And I would love to join you in reading the same book in a month. I will start participating in Oktober (I need to finish another book and to buy This Savage Song and then read it takes to much time to finish in time :P).
