Hi my name's Ruth, I am 20 and I live in England. My goal is to read 50 books this year. I am currently at 29 books. My favourite book genre is fantasy and ya. My favourite author is Barry Hines and my favourite book is The Curious Incident of the dog in the night time. Yes I always quote books in public... How else can I let the world know my live for books.

I have re read my favourite book 7 times and intend on reading it more times. My least favourite genre is romance ... I love reading classics and I am currently working through the complete works of Shakespeare. I read any type of book paperback, hardcover, eBook or Physical book. I wish the Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan never had a sequel. Percy Jackson was amazing and the Red Pyramid ruined it. I wish that Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell had a sequel as that was an amazing TV series and book.

My favourite place to read is on the beach or by the river. My favourite fictional character is Harry Potter... But then who does not like harry potter. My favourite fictional villain is Draco Malfoy as he turns out to be good in the end. The best film adaption was The boy in the striped pyjamas... I cried :( The most disappointing film adaption was the sea of monsters by Rick Riordan ... :)

Hi there!
I prefer to be called Grimm if anything and I'm from Canada! I absolutely love books but I really only like reading fantasy and sci fi. Unfortunately, I've already reached my reading goal for 2016 and I have just been surpassing the goal since then.
I like to consider myself extremely active on this site and I always respond to everyone's messages. This is my first time being in a group so I guess you could say I am a bit nervous lol!
I like to read all sorts of genres as long as they get good reviews from people on goodreads. I'm not a huge fan of teen romance though so please do not recommend those to me!
On my spare time I typically play video games and stream. You can find me at www.twitch.tv/grimmersthereaper and make sure you hit that follow button. There are a few people from goodreads and they're really awesome to talk to in the chat.

I will say though, to those of you who haven't read the book Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, please do yourself the favour of reading it as soon as possible. Phenomenal book and I want another one now!

I love all genres and am definitely a mood reader. I have an unobtainable goal to one day have read all the major classics in literature - but I keep getting side tracked with contemporary novels! I have two dogs and a busy life - but I am still active on Goodreads while I add to my TBR and Read lists..

Hi my name is Hayley, I am thirteen years old. I am from Australia, my reading goal is to read ten books by the end of 2016. I have multiple favourite book genre's but I tend to stick to Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Young Adult. My least favourite genre is Crime/Mystery. I don't have a favourite book but my favourite series is The Violet Eden Chapters by Jessica Shirvington. I don't have one specific author that I like, I like many authors including Claudia Gray, Cecelia Ahern, Jessica Shirvington and L.A.Weatherly. I can't remember how many times I have re-read my favourite book but it is most likely about two or three times. I don't read classics, I have never quoted a book in public, I don't really care if a book is paperback or hardcover but if it was a matter of life or death, I would choose paperback. I wish "The Problem With Forever" by Jennifer.L.Armentrout had a sequel and I wish "A Thousand Pieces Of You" by Claudia Gray did not have a sequel because I can't seem to be able to read the second book even though I enjoyed the first book. My favourite place to read is a quiet place like a library or my room where I can really focus on the book and what's occurring in the book. I don't know who my favourite fictional character or villain is. I'm probably gonna get a bit of hate for this but my favourite film adaptation of a novel is "Twilight" by Stephanie Meyer and I don't know what the most disappointing film adaptation is.

Welcome to the Group, Ashley.

Hi All, my name is Dana, I'm 26 and live in a small town in Massachusetts with my husband and our two cats. We were married last October after being together for 3 years. Originally I'm from a tiny town in Vermont, but we met while I was in college at the local Walmart in New Hampshire (I know--Awkward!) But what makes it unique is that we are both such introverts that something seriously magical happened between us because we approached each other almost at the exact same time to strike up a conversation. Needless to say after talking movies, because that's the section we were in, we exchanged numbers and started talking/hanging out after that and are now happily married. Reading has always been a passion of mine, along with stained-glass and cats. My reading goal for the year was 30 books, as of today I am currently reading number 38 and 39 so I have surpassed that goal and at this point just focusing on seeing how many I can actually read this year. Growing up I've always loved fiction, and even now it's still a favorite but more recently I have started to really like Gothic Horror, and Historical Fiction. And of course, I do enjoy memoirs on certain topics such as holocaust survivors and abduction/cult survivors, their stories are always heart breaking but the end result is beautiful because they survived.

So, as far as favorites go, I really love anything written by vc andrews(and her ghost writer), Jodi Picoult, and lets not forget the amazing JK Rowling for creating the most amazing series I could have grown up with. With that said, it's no surprise that some of my favorites include, Harry Potter Boxset more specifically Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire although I dislike that movie as much as I love the book. Other books that I love include: Mercy, House Rules, Broken Wings, and A Child Called "It".

I wouldn't say I really have a least favorite genre, but I do find that more often than not fantasy books (the ones that involve animals as characters and outer space galaxy stuff) aren't ones that I jump to when I finish reading something. Rarely do I read those kinds of books. I prefer when reading, that it be paperback in most cases, however, hardcover is never turned down. I cannot get into reading from a nook or tablet of any kind, I need to feel and smell the books, something about turning the pages just relaxes me completely. I never really got into reading "classics" when I was younger/first started reading a lot unless schools made me. However, recently I did purchase Jane Eyre, The Scarlet Letter, and Pride and Prejudice (those fall under classics right?)

I love reading at home, on my couch with my cat curled up next to me, other than being at home, I find it peaceful reading outside as long as the weather permits it. The only place I can't read is in the car, sadly because we drive so much so it would be the perfect time to do some reading, but I get so car sick so I don't risk it.

Other than reading, I love being around my family, swimming, coloring, going berry picking, cooking, and working on stained glass. I'm hoping in the near future to get out of the apartment my husband and I are in now and get a house that will be big enough for me to have my own studio.

My name is Kirsi (also can be called Kiki) and Jade invited me to join this group. I'm definitely a YA lover so I was happy to join and get to know new people who share my passion.

I'm 31 years old and I live in Finland. I'm a nurse by profession and also have a BA degree in Social Services. I first fell in love with YA books maybe some 5 years ago when I read the Hunger Games and the Divergent series and since then I've been gulfing down YA books at an increasing pace. I also love reading different kinds of books such as classics, autobiographies, manga etc. At the moment my favorite genre would probably be fantasy/dystopian fiction but I love reading basically anything. In addition to reading, I love fashion dolls, which I collect. I think I'm really a child at heart :D

Which book do I wish didn't have a sequel? Delirium by Lauren Oliver (that's like one of the best author names I've ever heard). The series just fell apart after the first book and really let me down, but I LOVE the first book.

Hey guys!

I'm Chelsea, I'm 22 years old, and I'm from West Virginia (USA). I'm currently a triple major at Marshall University - anthropology, psychology, and French - and spend pretty much all my time studying, aha. Any spare time is devoted to reading, playing with my nine lovely animals, and working on my blog.

As far as reading goes, I just finished my yearly goal a couple months ago (100 books)! My favorite genres are definitely fantasy and science fiction, my least favorite genre is probably contemporary, my favorite author is Tamora Pierce, and my favorite book is Burial Rites by Hannah Kent. I have only read Burial Rites twice, but I read my previous favorite book (Alanna: The First Adventure is the book that got me into reading as a child, and I've loved it ever since) a total of 27 times.

I prefer paperback books for standalone novels and series that have already been completed and released. I prefer hardcover for series that are ongoing.

I currently wish that I had the sequel to The Wrath & the Dawn. I'm on a book-buying ban right now, unfortunately. As far as which books I wish I didn't have the sequel to, I would say the sequels to City of Bones, but I already took them to my library. I do wish I hadn't spent my money on them, though. I just wasn't a fan of that series in general and I bought a boxed set to begin with.

My favorite place to read is in my sun room, for sure. It's nice and cozy in there. My favorite fictional character is Mark Watney from The Martian, favorite villain has to be Voldemort from the Harry Potter series. Favorite film adaptation is, without a doubt, The Martian, and least favorite is The Lightning Thief.

Favourite Fictional Villain: I am not sure I can name a fictional villain off the top of my head, but I tend to like layered villains, people who are doing what they think is best for society/themselves, even if society wouldn't agree with them.

I'm from England.
I work for (but am not in) the Ministry of Defence.
I have reached and am exceeding this years reading goal.
favourite genre, fantasy.
all time favourite book: Bram Stokers Dracula (even though I'm a lycanthropist).
Favourite author at the moment K Eason Outlaw or Genevieve Cogman The Invisible Library.
Least favourite genre: technical books like Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time, although I do read books like this just to expand my horizons.
Yes, I do read 'classics' Homer, Dickens, Shakespeare etc.
I used to collect hardcovers but they are so expensive, heavy and take up a lot of shelf space, so unless it's by someone who I really care about and want to keep preserved, I go for paperback and electronic books (it's hard enough to carry around six or seven paperbacks in a rucksack let alone their hardback equivalents).
Sequels: I can't think of a book that was stand alone that should have had a sequel, but a series that could and should have been condensed into one book (probably going to get a lot of flack for this, ducks under the table for ensuing onslaught).....drum roll for added suspense/tension...is.....wait for it.... Harry Potter. (someone pass me a bullet proof vest and a helmet quick). seriously though, the HP series was soooooo long.
Favourite place to read: Sofa with a good cup of tea.
Favourite fictional character: hmmm possibly Tiffany Aching from Terry Pratchetts Discworld series, odd choice for a bloke I know, but if i'd had a daughter she would be the sort I'd want to have had (with added witchy powers :D). Or maybe Sherlock Holmes, "elementary my dear Doctor Watson"
Favourite fictional villain: Moriarty, a psycho genius the perfect foil to Sherlock Holmes.
Favourite film adaptation: I'm often very disappointed by film makers when it comes to book adaptations, mostly due to the fact that the actors don't resemble anything like the person in my imagination, so this was quite hard, but I have to say Francis Ford Coppola's interpretation of 'Dracula' in 1992, with Gary Oldman in the lead role and co starring Keanu Reeves, Sadie Frost, Winona Ryder and Anthony Hopkins, wasn't half bad.
Most disappointing film adaptation: 'Christine' by Stephen King jeez that film is laughable, the book is properly scary like a good horror novel should be, but the film turned into a b-movie style comedy.
Like everyone else in GR I love to read just about anything.
I have my nose in a real book/magazine or my kindle anytime I'm not working/driving/sleeping (or typing out answers to questionnaires). I firmly believe that just because someone is a certain age it doesn't mean they can't appreciate a good book from a particular age category (look at 'The World of Poo' and 'Where's my Cow' by Terry Pratchett for instance :D).
So to paraphrase (badly) King Henry V in the Shakespeare play of the same name:
"Once more unto the page dear friends, once more..."

My name is Angélique Riou. My birthday is October first. I was born in Bathurst NSW, grew up in Nowra (also NSW) and am currently living in Nîmes, France. My 2016 goodreads reading challenge is 54 books. I started with 100 then cut it since I´ve been have a huge reading slump. I love YA, dystopian, mystery + crime, classics, graphic novels, comptempary and recently started reading urban fantasy. I dislike high fantasy and certain sci-fis but I think this only because I haven´t read enough books of these genres. I am a big harry potter fan and am still waiting on my letter. I guess I´ll just have to keep reading to live the magic till then. I have been recently going through a reading slump that I spend more time on goodreads and booktube then actually reading. I´m currently reading ´Neverwhere´ by Neil Gaiman and I love it so far! This is my first look at a urban fantasy book and I´m really enjoying myself. In all I´m still young and haven´t read many books but am excited by the concept of discovering and entering new worlds, and using goodreads as a medium to do so. :)
