How did we all enjoy Dark Matter? I loved the concept of the multiverses spawning from every decision. What made this book really stand out for me were the multiple Jasons all claiming ownership of their home universe; it completely took me by surprise!

DISCUSSION QUESTION #5 - What did you think of the ending? Is the family truly safe from being pursued by the other Jasons?

Sarah This book was really interesting! I'm not a science/physics oriented person at all so in the beginning I was thinking I wouldn't enjoy it/get it, but the concepts were broken down in a way that were really easy to understand and the idea of a multi verse was really fascinating. As to whether they actually exist, I'll leave that to the scientists to have out! It definitely offered perspective on the lives that we live and that at the end of the day, everything has a cost and it's our relationships with others that are the most important and satisfying.

The apocalyptic worlds were definitely the most disturbing, but I think the worlds that the other Jasons saw that messed them up so much were even more disturbing as you don't know what they experienced.

I think the family were safe (assuming that their son conjured up a safe world) as the other Jason's didn't have the ampoules to use in the box.

As for question no.4 - that's a doozy! I could be in all sorts of different lives. It would be interesting to 'pop in' on each one and see what they would've been like, but I'm also a firm believer in intuition and that it takes you on the path you need to be on if you follow it, so personally I feel as though I'm living the right version of my life!

Sarah And I agree the twist at the end was great, I couldn't put it down after that!

Yeah, I thought #4 was maybe a bit too personal but threw it in anyway :)
I like your idea of popping in just to see how things could be different but I think I'm much the same as the narrator Jason; this world is the one for me.

As far as the alternate universes the one that got to me the most was one that the other Jason at the bar mentioned, where he lost his Amanda in the snow storm. I got the impression that she was romantically involved with Jason2 before he left, so that was a sad ending for her.

I think there were ampoles left, didn't our Jason stash one in his hotel? But there was only one Charlie in that universe so I don't think the others could possibly follow.

I personally found Jason really relatable. I thought he was realistically developed throughout, primarily because he was portrayed as fallible. I saw this mostly through the actions he took in the multiverse. Often, I found myself frustrated by the actions Jason were taking. They seemed selfish; particularly his interactions with the many Daniela's he met. All of these interactions were distressing and/or disastrous to her, and were initiated to salve Jason's own homesickness. I would like to think I wouldn't act so selfishly, but in such a situation I probably would. So while he often frustrated me, in the end, this is what endeared him to me.

The multiverse seemed pretty disastrous. While I have no scientific background to make a call on whether they exist or not; I hope they don't. If they do I hope we don't ever get access to them.
