This novella length story, the longest of the collection, was also one of my favorites of the collection. It's got spaceships; interstellar, interspecies war; and time travel. And the interesting side effect of making Earth (aka XE7) just a nonparticipant planet, with the main character being the alien (to human) Voshti scout, Mila. Good plot, both intelligent and giving the reader credit for some intelligence as well, some nice action, and a very engaging lead character. The Voshti handbook for first contact is a little unconventional (then, let's face it, nasty), but Mila always does her best to minimize casualties.
This is also the only story in this collection that seem to have a bit of humor to it.
